thanks to everyone who recommended places to visit and how much time we should allow. it was great help. we left yesterday and really enjoyed. went to blue mosque/aya sofia/ cisterns/topkapi palce/ grand bazaar/galata tower and dolmabahce palace. did not have time for ortakoy pier or trip on ferries.
dolmabahce palace was one of best places ever visited in our lives.
taxis very cheap so used them alot. also surprised that eating out was not expensive for a city.meals were exceptional.
i dont normnally like big cities but this was an exception. a different culture that made it so interesting.its a mad place with so many people and traffic.
will defintely go back as sure so much to see. but am also now interested in seeing more of rest of turkey. can anyone recommend anywhere else.i believe bursa is worth visiting.
now in comparative peacefulness of north cyprus. will put on my turkey t shirt i bought in taksim square for the big match tonight.

You could start in the west-there are so many places over there to explore and English is more widely spoken especially south of İzmir. That whole coast right the way round to Antalya is great!

It`s weird that you liked the Dolmabahce palace that much. It is just a bad imitation of the Versailles palace.

I wouldn`t recommend Bursa unless you`re going to Uludag. There isn`t much to see in the city. Anywhere on the Agean coast would suit you better.

Well I'm not writing these because I'm a citizen of Bursa but I've been here since I was born and there're lots of things to explore.I'm sure I know Bursa better than a tour guide who just takes you to several mosques and tombs, does.
Fortunately Bursa's tourists are well-educated people who are interested in the history and the culture-they aren't like 3rd class building constractors' foreign wives without social polish who don't do anything except sunbathing.
I don't want to make anyone offended but I think my message has been delivered.

I think you may go to Bursa only to eat famous "İskender Kebap" and you dont need any other reason. The restaurant was established at 1850 and serving to its customers today. Look that its history older or near many countries at the world. To visit 150 years old restaurant and enjoy its special meal is an enouh reason according to me.
PS 1: I am 105 Kgs weight
PS 2: I am not a citizen of Bursa
PS 3: See this link about "İskender Kebap";
