Quoting Daydreamer: Actually I always believed that it wasn't the 3rd class building contractors wives that are uninterested in sightseeing the beauty of Bursa, but the well-off first class folks who've seen it all and done it all. They'd rather be frying their a*ses in a 5 star resort than walk and sweat in the heat...

Quoting Johnk: thanks to everyone who recommended places to visit and how much time we should allow. it was great help. we left yesterday and really enjoyed. went to blue mosque/aya sofia/ cisterns/topkapi palce/ grand bazaar/galata tower and dolmabahce palace. did not have time for ortakoy pier or trip on ferries.
dolmabahce palace was one of best places ever visited in our lives.
taxis very cheap so used them alot. also surprised that eating out was not expensive for a city.meals were exceptional.
i dont normnally like big cities but this was an exception. a different culture that made it so interesting.its a mad place with so many people and traffic.
will defintely go back as sure so much to see. but am also now interested in seeing more of rest of turkey. can anyone recommend anywhere else.i believe bursa is worth visiting.
now in comparative peacefulness of north cyprus. will put on my turkey t shirt i bought in taksim square for the big match tonight. |
If I had my chance, I would travel the length of the Black Sea coast, and I would go to Saffronbolu too! I would like to spend some time around Trabzon and north east Turkey. We went hiking in the Kackar Mountains, which was fantastic. I would also like to see Capadoccia and hike along the Lycian way. Another journey recommended to me was to drive along the coast from Antalya to say Izmit by car, stopping where ever the fancy takes you.

Quoting Deli_kizin: Quoting uzeyir: You are the last person who can be offended That profession was just an example and I still stand by what I said.Although it doesn't suit,I think it does If people had been more considerable,I'd have been more considerable though. We don't have to think in the same way like we aren't interested in the same things. |
I wasn't offended. And your post wouldn't have been offending and arrogant if you hadn't said '3rd class' (it doesn't matter what profession you say, it's the 3 class part that makes it offensive) and 'social polish'. Your post shows you look down on people who are not highly educated or without manners that you consider to be of 'high culture'. You may stand with what you said, but that is really shame on you! |
My husband was in the building trade and I wasn't offended by Uzeyir's post - really didn't bother me .
I was more offended by this comment made in January by a Turkish tc member: 'You need to know at least three languages as a really cultured person in this life...' - which would imply that around 98% of Great Britain are 'really uncultured' when the truth is most of us are just too damn lazy to bother because the whole world speaks English
