Can anyone tell me what would be best to give as a wedding present? When I've been to a turkish wedding both in Turkey and in London my family have either given the bride & groom a piece of jewellery each or pinned money on them, is there anything else or that what people give overall?

teşekkur ederim

It's not "türkçe" wedding. It's türk wedding. Türkçe is used just for the language.

The best is giving a jewelery, pereferebly gold (not silver). It's the custom.

I know that money works because it's either gold jewellery or cash and that is at least £100. Thanks for the suggestions

That's true. If you go to a jewelry story in Turkey, and tell them you are going to a wedding, they have special things for that.

It can get very expensive going to Turkish weddings.

I think it's pretty good. It's high quality. I think it's pretty much the same price all over. That's one of the sad things about gold. It always comes down to the weight. Many beautiful old treasures have been melted down because of that.

When I was in Morocco I saw nice old pieces of gold that were just being melted to recast.

So what would be the best price that you should negotiate till you reach there for the 18kt and 21kt ?

If I'm not mistaken çeyrek gold is about 50 liras. In my area the close family give all kinds of household presents, TVs, washing machines, carpets...any couple is pretty much set to move into their own home after their wedding Other relatives, friends and neighbours usually give çeyrek gold or money. The list if money presents can be several pages long as many give a simple 5 lira note as a token of their blessing

I am willing to give much more than 5, 5 lira is about £1. Anyways the jewellery I think will be what I'll get them, so I guess i will get that very soon

Yes especially if you know them somewhat well it would be an insult to give a 5 note

Look honey , You'd better give them cash ! i think not all the people like gold & stuff ,& even maybe they won't like the design .. Otherwise , any expensive perfums or carpets will work out !

Bood idea! They have coin shapeed gold with loops in various sizes and weight. They have loops so you can put a ribbon on them. A red ribbon is traditional. Mostly I've seen them then pinned on the bride. Often the bride is covered with gold coins.

TURKISH WEDDING = DÃœĞÃœN

In Turkish wedding day, as a Turkish tradition, bride ( a girl newly married) is wearing gold coins, piece of jewelry and golden bracelets....
