I have certainly never seen a woman all covered up swimming in Turkey. Not their faces and hands anyway. Has anyone seen this? Can we assume it's another islamic country? Also, my boyfriend who is Turkish refuses to believe this is in Turkey.

Well,i havent seen it in my country too
Still its not disgraceful ,is it?

But,i just wonder why would your boyfriend refused to believe that can be in Türkiye ?!
İt would be nice to think that his country is very much tolerance that you can find that outfit along with bikini at same beaches, wouldnt it ?! :-S
İ would think same if its in my country!

Are you joking?!! It's disgusting. How many of these women, GIVEN A CHOICE, would choose to go swimming like this? More and more these days, people are less tolerant of muslim 'fanatics' as AK party remains in power. In fact, these burquas are banned in Turkey.

Well, I don't know if anyone has considered this, but she could have a prosthetic arm and hand because she lost it in some type of unpleasant action. Thus, her husband, who loves his wife dearly, is happy to see her enjoying herself.

I think the unpleasant action involved a confused shark who saw this black figure floating in the ocean and thought he found a nice tasty lunch of seal!

I cannot imagine how hideous this must feel to be so completely covered and soaking wet with sand sticking all over. Not to mention, it doesn't seem to safe to be swimming in so much fabric!!

Well, many people see women in mini skirts are disgusting too
So,its a matter of opinions i guess
Still,i fail to understand how is it to be DİSGUSTİNG that woman covering herself and not showing her body on the beaches, but not naked woman ,or topless ones ?
Again,its a matter of opinions!

You would be surprised how many women actually CHOOSE to go swimming like this, because they CHOOSE to wear like this.

Who are the people that you are talking about who became LESS tolerant of muslim 'fanatics' as AK party remains in power?
Turkish people you mean ?
Who are Muslims ?
So you mean Muslims become less torlent toward muslims, because of AKP which they have elected them by %47 'less or more' ?!!
Yes,im sure you are right !

Btw,burquas are banned in official places, not on the beaches unless you considered beaches to be official places too!

Clearly, it was an opinion. I can't say for a fact it's disgusting. I know ALL of my Turkish friends agree with me though. Their husbands would not allow them to show off their bodies and swim- this concept disgusts me.

I disagree. Why do they choose to wear these?... because of some deep rooted religious or cultural belief. It doesn't come from within directly, it comes from a culture.

It was my boyfriend who said burquas are banned. After clarification, they are indeed not forbidden but certainly frowned upon and gets a negative response. I guess they are the norm at these special hotel places.

As an Izmirli, yes, the Izmirians are very much against the AK party in general. I guess I made a sweeping statement. Actually, even though the AK party won the majority of votes in other cities, the people who voted for them are not all AK party supportes. Rather, they are afraid of what a change of government might bring in terms of the economy etc. They are voting whilst thinking of their future which is fair enough but harsh as Turkey struggles to be a secular country

Everyone here has imaginations that are quite fertile....It is certainly an interesting photo. We will probably never know for sure.

This photo was posted on the site some months ago - there was speculation that the couple in front were two of our more popular members! Personally I think the lady in the burkini is actually not in there at all - she has left her husband holding a false arm and is swimming happily away out of shot in a tiny bikini.
