Please could someone explain if all the sentences below convey almost the same meaning, i.e., ´When Ali comes, we will go to the market´

1) ´Ali gelince, biz çarşıya gidiceğiz´
2) ´Ali´nin geldığı zaman, çarşıya gidiceğiz´
3) ´Ali geldiğinde, çarşıya gidiceğiz´

Thank you.

I can explain like this:

1. Gelince: Is "when", and the second verb is dependent on the timing of the first one.

We will go to the market when Ali comes
i.e. we are waiting for Ali to come, and then we will go

2. Geldiği zaman: is "when" in the sense of at the same time as. The sentence doesn´t seem to make too much sense in Turkish as it is written, as you don´t go to the market in a moment of time.

Ali geldiği zaman biz pazardaydık: We were at the market when Ali came
or
Ali geldiği zaman pazara gitmek üzere evden çıkıyorduk: When Ali came we were leaving the house to go to the market.

3. Geldiğinde: same meaning as 2, so again the Turkish is a bit "bozuk".

In place of number 1 you can also use:

4. Ali gelir gelmez biz pazara gideceğiz.

This means "when" as in "immediately after".

The second Ali comes we will go to the market.

The ´gelir gelmez´ construction means ´as soon as´.
So like Marion says-´as soon as Ali comes ........´

Not really.

Normally the person who is doing both the -ip verb and the second verb is the same person.

e.g. Ali koşup vapura bindi.

Usually the ´ip´ suffix would be the same as the suffix attatched to the second verb so you don´t have to say it twice.
eg. Dukkana gidip birsey aliyorum instead of Dukkana gidiyorum ve birsey aliyorum.

İn few words as i understand it, its like ve ´and´ without using the pronoun,so as Marion said,it should be for the same person .

Ali gelip Pazar´a gidecek

I can´t believe that you are studying Turkish from a book by a person who doesn´t know Turkish rules much. What is "gidiceğiz?" OMG!

It has to be gideceğiz

Marion & ALL Others

Thank you very much for the detailed discussion. I have understood different usages, and discussion about ´-ip´, and ´gelir gelmez´ was a bonus.

Yardimleriniz çok tessekur ederim, efendilerim.
