i think your very rude wrtiting things like that on here... is it so hard to believe that somtimes two people from different countries just fall in love and want to be together.....if you are so cynical then leave these forums for genuine people who just need help and advise!!

If you read all the translation requests, often desperate, yes, that is very hard to believe!

Let me guess: he just told you that you are special and he loves you? Great, I wish you all happiness there is. However, don´t be surprised if some people are just a little bit sarcastic after reading thousands of requests for translation, of stories ending ´not so happily ever after´, of betrayal and more. Fair or not fair, it´s the truth seen here on this site.

I don´t get involved in things like this at all, but seeing as perhaps I could be considered as one of the girls who requests some translations about my story not ending happily, I still have to say that I too don´t think it´s fair to stereotype. A member of my family has been with an English guy 10 years, just married him, they have two children, and he´s confessed to have had many affairs! I know many people who have been cheated on by English men in the same scenario, but I don´t tar them all with the same brush. And yes, I´m British.

I can see two sides of this, I realise the endless love messages may be tiring to read and yes, in resorts I too know that some people are conned, but love does exist in this world and although it´s right to be cynical to a point, maybe, just maybe ,some people mean these things when they say them. Nobody can know two people´s situation unless they are in it themself, however similar it may seem to another. And the recipients of the messages do have feelings, if they read things like this and sarcastic comments then how will they feel? Confused  and insecure, which could put a strain on their relationship to begin with! They come here to learn and to ask for help.

I too have seen on Facebook etc men of all nationalities who make lewd comments, who are desperately seeking anything other than ´love´, but I don´t discriminate against their race however many of them I see- it´s the individual whose behaviour I judge.

Sorry if I have offended anyone here- I must have drunk too much coffee and broke my silence. :S

well said carla louise... thankyou, you make perfect sense!   yes trudy he did tell me he loved me ect.... 6 long happy years ago and has done evry day since... you are obviously bitter for a reason and im sorry you experienced that but your comments are very hurtful to honest turkish men and their partners, we get judged and sterio typed from the general public... even friends and family.. so we look to sites like this for help and advise, not critisism and insults

Just be natural, warm, modest and respectful to elders....no big deal, you will make it !

When in doubt, consult your husband-to-be.

Canim, you certainly didn´t offend me. Good that you ´broke the silence´. However, you too agree - at least that´s what I read in your message - that there are many con-situations? So, it´s not so strange at all people look suspiciously towards those love stories? Of course, not all people are the same, of course it happens everywhere, but I guess that the chance of getting betrayed with a guy from a resort (who sees loads of women every week) is at least slightly bigger than a John Doe from, let´s say, Nottinhham or Hastings?

Well said Elif84.  I also commend Carla´s statement.  I know more than a few Turkish/American marriages.  Most have worked out quite well, and at least as well as American/American marriages, if not better.   As in everything, it depends on the particular people involved.
