Actually you are confusing yourself and confusing me too

İn English,there is ....yes,and no

İn Turkish there is....Evet,hayır

İn Arabic there is.... Bala which also means Na´an,and la

Yok doesnt mean no,it means does not exist

As var mean...exist

Like in saying do you have brother/sister ?

No,i dont have brother/sister

Yes,i have brother/sister

Kardeşin var mı ?

Hayır,kardeşim yok.

Evet,kardaşim var.

So here it can be translated as do you have...but its meaning is ´not exist´

No,my brother/sister do not exist

Ps:guys correct the Turkish sentence if needed

ooh i guess i was confusing myself again!! Why do i always make things so complicated? lol thx canli!

"Yok" can mean "hayır" as well. At least it is used that way.

For example:

- Biraz daha kahve ister misin? (Do you want more coffee?)

Yok, sağol. (No, thanks)

- Bu filme gidelim mi? (Shall we go to this film?)

Yok, ben o filmi gördüm. No, I have seen that film.

Yok means no. In fact, in some other Turkish yok is the only word for no (I guess Azeri is an example)

BALA means in Turkish "Bilakis" which comes from arabic bil-aks (on the contrary).

BALA/Bilakis Gives positive answer and exact expalaniton to the negative question.

- Have not you been in Ankara before? (Daha önce Ankarada bulunmadın mı?)

- BALA (I have been there) (Bilakis, orada bulundum)

-Am I not your GOD (Ben sizin rabbiniz değil miyim?)

-BALA (You are our GOD)  (Bilakis sen bizim rabbimizsin)

Bilakis = tam tersine

Both of them are used, maybe "bilakis" these days not so so much but you won´t sound weird if you use "bilakis".
