eniser-I think the word you used for ´term´ means ´term´ as a period of time. But I think she meant term as ´şartlar´

I think , there is not so much difference - in turkish

Being  ´On bad terms´ in English means that your relationship with that person is not good - it is nothing to do with a period of time in this meaning.  I think ´I don´t want to leave while there is bad feeling between us´ describes what she wanted to say

thanks sonunda, any ideas because i really could do with it before the end of the day.  i would really hate for a 5 year friendship to be ruined because of a stupid misunderstanding

 what about saying ´I want us to part as friends?´  maybe that would be simpler to translate?
