Is the plan to eliminate the PKK real?

For as long as I can remember there is word going around of plans to eliminate the PKK. Some have its source in Europe, some in the United States or some originate from the Kurds themselves. ...

Relations with Barzani have been improved. Even the National Security Council, or MGK, has suggested an investment in northern Iraq and increase of trade therein. Afterward, the administration has taken important steps in TRT-6 and the Kurdish issue. The start has been given for Kurdish departments at universities. By the way, the PKK ceased its terror action all of a sudden ...

According to them, the Iraqi Autonomous Kurdish Administration will meet for a Kurdish conference. During this conference a manifesto will be prepared regarding the "disarmament of Kurds" and signed by parties in agreement. In the meantime, Turkey will take some steps as well. It will announce an act of grace and allow some PKK leaders to leave for some European countries. In exchange, PKK members will put down their weapons. 

... Even which PKK leader was going to leave for which country was known. But this was not been put into action. 

If we were to tell the truth, the new plan is more likely to be put in action compared to the old plan. But this time roles are different. Some part of the Kurds and Turkey are more comfortable with this solution. But there are still some people opposing it, of course.

In Ankara it is clearly accepted that it is difficult to get rid of the PKK terror by using arms. ...

In summary, politicians and the military are more willing compared to the past. Also, the public is more willing compared to the past. 

PKK knows it won’t get far with weapons 

From Turkey’s point of view the most annoying part is "what will these steps be?" If in the Constitution it is persisted on changes in the lines of the DTP or on formulations having a trace of federation in them, we would be spending our time in vain. No political administration would or could take such a step.

Well I am quite optimistic this time as people beginning realize  (and also acknowledge) the mistakes we have done in the past..

Nobody is  talking about our kurdish problem as terrorism only any more.

Everybody knows that it was nothing to do with the EU, USA etc..Even the president said recently "this is our internal problem, nothing to do with foreigners"

The nationalist gangs are scared with the ergenekon case and they are virtually ineffective.

And when you think the latest developments such as new kurdish tv channel, goverment´s decision to make Newroz a public holiday etc..Though you think why we have not done thesethings  20 years ago but anyway. I am quite hopefull..

Really, really great to hear this... Apparently people are getting tired of the ineffectiveness of military solutions to the PKK issue. That is great.. Turkish democracy seems to be maturing.

Well it seems yes..Our democracy is maturing..

But there was never a ´military solution´ to our kurdish problem..

It took that amount of people getting killed to understand that simple fact..

But it is really a great news..

More good news :

After the president´s comments (he said that ´there will be some good things  very soon about our Kurdish problem´, now the governing party is talking about:

-Kurdish names of the locations will be restored (I mentioned several times that many kurdish names of the villages/towns made Turkish -it was part of ´quite primitive´ assimilation policy)

-They will remove the writings of the army ´Ne mutlu Turkum diyene´ from the mountains and hills of the southeast of Turkey(Again, I mentioned several times here that saying did not go well with the kurdish people-because the word ´Turk´ generically speaking is a race )

The word "Turk" does not refer to a "Race"...

It is an "ethnonym"

I don´t see at all how my post violates rule 9, and regarding harrasment, I guess half your posts should get deleted as well in the line of your logic of illogicality laced with double-standards...

There is nothing in violation of rule 9 in educating h about what "race" means, and how the word "Turk" pertains to an "ethnonmy" rather than a "race"......

Turkish police detained five people after human bones were unearthed as part of an investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings, news agencies reported Tuesday.

The detained include two sons of the former mayor of Cizre town, Kamil Atak, in Sirnak province, as well as three residents of a southeastern village near where nearly 20 bone fragments were unearthed Monday, a judiciary source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

The state-run Anatolian Agency reported that the detainments came on the testimony of an anonymous witness who said that some people were detained by Atak ....

I am sure everybody knows our infamous "local militias"-korucus- (they are kurds who armed by the goverment for fighting PKK). The detained people are some ´local militias´ I think..

There have been very nasty rumors about what they have been doing there.

These people should have been held responsible for what they have done. But they somehow always been protected and seemed immune to the courts.

We will all have to wait and see..

Masses celebrate Nevruz peacefully

ISTANBUL - Hundreds of thousands of Kurds peacefully celebrated the traditional spring festival Nevruz in Turkey on Saturday, showing greater cultural assertiveness since acquiring new rights.
