Sorry - but you are wrong. If you ask for ´tost´ in a Turkish restaurant/lokanta or bar you are asking for a toasted sandwich NOT a piece of toasted bread. I suppose it´s possible some cafes may use ´tost´ for ´toast´ though because maybe they think some foreigners can´t cope with something as complicated as ´kizarmýþ ekmek´

the sentence was ´I eat a toast´. What turkish you saw eating just a slide of roasted bread?! Its absurd! Its about a meal not something like popcorn

Single slices of bread are toasted and consumed by Turks, usually as a part of weekend breakfast rituals.

They taste good and it is a good way of using up the stale bread left overs, collected through the week.

Note: an average Turk has almost a spiritual respect for bread. People try to consume bread to its last bit in an effort to avoid its wastage. You can rarely see stale bread in waste bins.

Finaly toast means TOST in turkish and He or she was eating TOST!

´I eat a toast´ is not correct English - this is because the original poster is not a native-English speaker - and this is the sort of mistake often made.

I never saw a Turk eating a slice of roasted bread, this is true - but as bread toasters can be bought in any supermarket or electrical store here, I assume many Turks do eat toasted bread or kýzarmýþ ekmek.  Scalpel certainly does! (addition: I just saw Alpha´s post and obviously he knows Turks who eat toast too )

And considering the rest of the post included sentences like ´I eat a toast with jam and butter´ - he/she is most definitely  not referring to a meal.

Not if one recognises sarcasm when one sees it - but, point taken.  However, if you knew me you would know I certainly have no problem with my Turkish friends
