Can you tell me if it is accepted for a lady to send a Turkish male friend flowers as a get well wish? I am American and would do it here. Guys are usually pleasantly surprised at the thought of getting flowers and like to be pampered. I don´t want the gesture to come accross badly if it is not done in Turkey.

I´m even surprised as an American you have sent guys flowers...I don´t think it´s a common thing women do even here. Not to say, some men would like flowers. (fast)

Of course it would be so kindly if you would send some flowers, no matter to men or women..of course it is so kindly behaviours here also.Dont worry, when we visit someone sick, we prefer to visit with flowers..

Even as an American girl, I like to do the unexpected and be creative. Are you saying that there is at least nothing that is of tradition that would be horrifying to him if I did send flowers to him? .......And if not flowers, is there something that I can do that is appropriate to send get well wishes to my friend. I am trying to be more personal than always using internet for all correspondance.

as I turkish man, I would get flowers...we do live on the earth also..why we wouldnt get some flowers..

just be careful to send alive flowers, some hospitals do not accept them due to allergy, you had better send artifical if you are going to send to hospital..

He is not in a hospital. He is not super sick. I only wanted to show caring from far away. Here in USA, I would make him my best cure of chicken soup and deliver it personally of course. ..and still probably bring him flowers to cheer him up.

I think flowers are nice. I have sent it in the past to male friends with different results - some loved it, others felt it wasn´t "manly". I think showing caring when somebody is sick is a perfect occassion to send flowers regardless of gender - it´s not like you´re sending him roses to profess your undying love (in that case I´d say wait for him to send the flowers lol). Anyway, if you´re hesitant to send the flowers, I´d send some sweets or something like that - just makes sure not to send anything with gelatin if he doesn´t eat pork products.

I was thinking something like her shoes or her socks!!!! What are they got to do with vasectomy?

And a Turkish man will never agree to have vasectomy..The chance he has had a vasectomy is negligable here..

What were you thinking? OMG..Roll eyes

This barrier thing really can get annoying , offending when no offence was meant I knew where you were coming from but obviously not all did.

Just in case it is still not fully understood the pansy is a flower , but describes an effiminate man as well.

I wasn´t making a joke about your nickname or your name dear - don´t be so sensitive. I was making a joke about the name of the flower associated with your nickname. Please don´t be one of those members who wants to turn everything into an argument - we have quite enough of them already.

I am fairly sure that my husband, who is the biggest tightwad in history, would be very upset that I "wasted" money on such a silly thing. I can hear him now, in his Turkish accent, "Why you are sending to me flowers? Am I made of money that you can send this? Why you can´t bring to me some soup?" (fast) (fast)

Thanks for the ideas.

I already have a sexy laptop that I would share with him if we were in the same country. I would definitely make him the best soup in the world that would cure everything if we were in the same country. I will share my car (not quite a mercedes) if he were here. I must first teach him to drive.......I think a guy likes some extravagance spent on him and will enjoy the surprise because it is not expected. Fortuately, he is recovered pretty much since I was trying to decide if sending the flowers was an appropriate thing to do. I will wait util another occasion to do so. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I am always open to other gift ideas for a hot Turkisk guy for other occasions. Do you give gifts for birthdays in Turkey?

actually, have you ever thought about what if the difference between ask and sevgi causes all this turmoil? because, lest if there were not the haunt about sevgi, many people could coop up with ask, without getting clinged into an interest - paying romance.... delimit emotions, in exchange they will limit you...

I didn´t care much about Liberace until I watched a Youtube video of his. He is proof that sexual preferences must be regarded personal and that they have no bearing on who you actually are... Somehow, both sexes seem to have a problem with that...

i used to send flowers to men here in italy too...but it depends from the situation i think.

i think everywhere in the world flowers are common, but only in certain circustamces...hospital, b-day, a new job or things like this...i don´t think it´s an original gift just to celebrate an anniversary for example
