yakamozzz was right. Alyosha is a common nickname for Alexey.  Though the latter might sound more manly and mature. Most peope would probably think of old Russian fairy tales or stories when they hear "Alyosha." {#emotions_dlg.bigsmile} Alyosha Popovich.... Does that ring a bell?

yeah that rings many bells just like ilya muromets i grew up with them and we still have a lot of russians here in estonia...

No, it´s not. It´s a male name in Russia.
