There is a russian artist (or at least of russian origin) living in Poland, his name is Aleksy Awdiejew ("Alexyi Avdieyev"), but he is better known as Alosza Awdiejew ("Alosha Avdieyev"). But I´m not sure if "Alosha" is the way this name is said in Russian or is it just a "polish adaptation" of it. I´ve also heard this name pronounced as "Alyosha".

The term "guzel insan" rarely refers to the physical beauty of a person, because no gender is specified in the word "insan" - and  the word "guzel" can not be used to describe the physical good looks of a man (if it is deliberately used,  it implies a feminine touch assocated with that man).

What is meant here is the spiritual or moral beauty of a person (male or female); his/her strength of character.

yakamozzz was right. Alyosha is a common nickname for Alexey.  Though the latter might sound more manly and mature. Most peope would probably think of old Russian fairy tales or stories when they hear "Alyosha." Alyosha Popovich.... Does that ring a bell?
