...excuse me, but you´re being kind of sarcasticly rude. People spend their OWN time for FREE to make translations. You can´t be upset if they don´t get around to it. They are not your employees or something. By the way, my room needs cleaning, for about a month already, and I´m very upset that you didn´t come around to do it!

this attitude turns off some people from helping out - instead of appreciation when they help, they get such nasty comments when they don´t help.

Instead of making a sarcastic remark like this, you could have just bumped it up. Did the thought people might have overlooked it in the mass of requests occur to you?

So you do know this member very well to conclude like this? In my opinion the insults you had used humiliating nothing but human dignity. Anyway it seems it is approved by the ones who are preaching sermons about human rights here but still clapping such insults, nothing much left to say. By the way i dont know the guy, he made a mistake like all we do sometimes and i hope he will come and express himself.

Quoting turkaturk

Yes, it was and he deserves every drop of it.

No torture or detention yet, just a little slap on the hands for being a jerk, so no human rights abuses here canim.

Well, don´t that here, even that slap on the hands is forbidden being ´child abuse´....

Human rights abuses just depends on torture and detention, you smarty? Comment was clearly humiliating, apart from these you have forum rules about personal insults, but it is clear they are applied as you please, not surprising...

well, how far you can go in exaggeration, sure you can be a good reporter, did somebody say anything about the other proper responses? It was only comparison about the ones who are very knowledged and sensitive about human-rights but not say anything about a human being humiliated, is it clear now?

So what was so humiliating? Saying that people do translations for free in their free time? That people here make an effort to learn the language and culture? That he should apologize?

In my opinion he humiliated himself with his arrogancce and was simply exposed. People deserve respect, I agree, but they do need to earn it.

So it seems we have right to insult if somebody is arrogant/angry on forum. It will be better if you can add this as a forum rule maybe, just a suggestion .

Quoting catwoman

being angry that someone didn´t do you a favor IS arrogance. yeah, maybe it was a bit harsh, but I don´t think it was excessive or humiliating.

Poor Otto - I doubt he will dare show his face on the forum again after this thread.

My opinion:

His post was quite rude and unnecessary and deserved some comment to the fact.  In the past when people have complained their translations were not done ´quickly enough´ comment has been made drawing their attention to the fact that translators are doing them a favour not the other way around.

However .....I do think that some comments were unnecessary and irrelevant and of course it is not acceptable to belittle people to that extent because they appear arrogant/angry.  I think Otto will get the picture of how people feel without these additional  comments and I am going to delete them and I think maybe it is best to lock this thread now.
