Of course he is not as talented as others. But in years he has improved his acting.

Nevertheless, isn´t he the most paid actor anyway?

German film board prevents release of Turkish film

´Kurtlar Vadisi: Filistin´ (Valley of the Wolves: Palestine) reprises the Israeli raid on the Mavi Marmara ship.

´Kurtlar Vadisi: Filistin´ (Valley of the Wolves: Palestine) reprises the Israeli raid on the Mavi Marmara ship.

Plans to screen a Turkish film in Germany starting Thursday have been halted over concerns the action movie contains anti-Semitic propaganda.

A spokesperson for the Pera Film Company in Cologne, which was distributing “Kurtlar Vadisi: Filistin” (Valley of the Wolves: Palestine) in Germany, said the German Movie Control Association, or FSK, would prevent the screening because the movie, which allegedly features anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli overtones, was to be released on Jan. 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Noting that the company would obey the FSK’s decision for now, the spokesperson said they would make a final decision concerning the issue after examining the justification for the order.

“Kurtlar Vadisi” had been criticized by German politicians of various political persuasions in recent days.

“‘Kurtlar Vadisi: Filistin’ is a problematic movie because it foments violence, anti-Israeli [feelings] and anti-Semitic sentiments,” said Kerstin Griese, a parliamentary deputy for the opposition Social Democratic Party.

The date chosen to release the movie elicited anger from across the political spectrum, with Philip Missfelder, a parliamentary member of the ruling Christian Democratic Party, saying it disrespected victims of the Holocaust. Jerzy Montag of the Green Party said it was “irresponsible” to release the film Jan. 27.

The film reprises the raid on the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship that was carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip last year when it was attacked by Israeli commandos, resulting in the deaths of eight Turks and one U.S. citizen of Turkish origin.

Kurtlar Vadisi first started as a television series, but spin-off movies have since come to accompany the continuing TV shows. The franchise is famous for touching upon political issues, such as when U.S. forces detained Turkish soldiers in Iraq and put sacks over their heads. The nationalist hero of the movie, Polat Alemdar, is a semi-official Turkish agent who exacts revenge on those who act against the Turks

Who watched the movie and how is it? I especially wonder Erdal Beşikçioğlu´s performance. I am a fan of him from Behzat Ç. serial.

This movie is like a poison for the young minds. It has created thousands of wannabe Polats.

Thinking of the differences and similarities between this and The Godfather: The Godfather also depicted the life of mafia members but it did not so with an eye to revealing a reality of life The movie did that without praising the evil aspects of mafia members or by trying to turn them into idols. In the end, it did create idols but that was thanks to immense acting powers of the likes of Marlon Brando and the excellence of the whole production complete with the theme music. People praised Marlon Brando for the performance or the producers for the work. In the case of Kurtlar Vadisi, it is the mafia life that is presented as an enviable choice not the acting, not the music, not the photography etc.

Nevertheless, I condemn Germany´s decision to call off the debut of the movie. The producers are purposefully playing these tricks to bring it up on the agenda by making it appear as if what is told in the movie is relevant to the current political affairs.

I agree with some points but this movie is about Palastine. We should first discuss about this issue. Almost a decade later we start to do our own movies against USA propoganda movies like Rambo series that show almost all Muslims as terrorists or barbaric people. This is an important step.

Good point gokuyum. We are always brainwashed with the American movies where the American are good guys and the others (Turks, Arabs, etc) are bad (barbarians, terrorists, etc).

It´s a good step that we can produce movies depicting our point of views where the American or Israelis may as well be shown as bad guys.

Not yet but here´s a quote (from here):

"It plants the seeds of hostility"

Comments on"Valley of the Wolves - Palestine" are harsh

"It plants the seeds of hostility"

"Valley of the wolves - Palestine" is a Turkish action movie. Scenario is about deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound Turksih aid ship, Mavi Marmara opened in cinemas across Turkey on Friday.

A Turkish undercover agent hunts down Israeli commanders responsible for the killing of nine activists who died in Mavi Marmara.

Film is based on popular TV series "Valley of the wolves". Last year, This series caused a diplomatic tension between Turkey and Israel.

Israel´s ambassador Gabby Levy told Anatolia news agency that in the movie some "generalizations about the Jewish people, certain anti-Semitic approaches" were "disturbing."

In movie, there are sharp dialogues between the Turks and the Israelis.

Movie´s producer Zubeyir Sasmaz says the movie aim is to expose injustice against Palestinian

Turkish Cinema critic Atilla Dorsay´s comment on film is; "it plants the seeds of hostility" and another critic Alper Turgut says, " it is caricatureted"

According to Dorsay, as an action film it is already excellent, one of the best examples but its content is so disputable. "It´s a kind of Turkish style Rambo story. Thanks to planting ethnic and religious hostility seeds in Turkish public, it could create new problems. its message is not so healthy on the issue of Turkish modern foreign politics."

For Turgut, senario is very horrible, acting is terrible. Senario is designed around only the events on Mavi Marmara, there is no before and after.

Well, we don´t like the cheap Hollywood movies do we? We don´t like the Israeli propoganda machine pushing these cheap productions either. We know exactly what we don´t like: it is satanizing, demonizing, mocking, ridiculing, misrepresenting people and their cultures. You know the magic word in the Israeli mindset is retaliation. We are using their technique against them. This will turn us into Israelis. No matter how hard it seems to prove a point internationally, we shouldn´t be seeking retaliation by putting aside tolerance and wisdom.

The problem with these kinds of movies is that people think that this is reality. They have used a real story, and used this as a base for a movie script. It remains a movie however, with big dramatizations, and even things that never happened. But do the people in the cinema realize this, or will they form an opinion based on a movie, made to create money for the studio-owners?
