My try

how does the suffix -meye work?

 ezberle (root of the verb) + mek (infinitive suffix) + y (buffering y) + e (suffix for çalışmak (to try) )

 lets put them together.. ezberle+ mek+y+e  in here the letter " k "drops and the consonant "y" comes.   ezberle+me+y+e = ezberlemeye

another example : Onları görmeye çalışıyorum. (I am trying to see them )

                                  gör+mek+e = gör+me+y+e = görmeye

Does this form comes with ´çalısmak´ always or can we use it with other verbs also

as in "görmeye gidiyorum".  could someone elaborate it in detail? please...Thanks

The only verb I know of that comes with the ´pure´ infinitive is istemek.

So you´d say ´gitmek istiyorum´  but I´m sure tunci will elaborate.

The verb istemek - to want - is a special case as it causes no modification of the verb it governs: yazmak istiyorum - I want to write
içmek istiyorlar - they want to drink

Fransızca gazete okumaya çalışıyorum.= I am trying to read French newspaper.

Bir kitap yazmayı tasarlıyorum = I am planning to write a book.

Sevgililer günü hakkında hiçbir şey duymak istemiyorum = I don"t want to hear anything about Valentines day.

Televizyon seyretmeyi sevmiyorum. = I don"t like watching tele.

Güzel bir ev almayı düşünüyorum. = I am thinking to buy a nice house.

It is consisting of two suffixes: -mek+e => -meye ( -mak+a => -maya)

1) -mek/-mak => -ing

oku- =>read / okumak =>reading

2) -e/-a => for the purpose of

Dün bir kitap okumaya başladım - I started reading a book yesterday

Senin bakış açını anlamaya çalıştım - I tried seeing your point of view

Bugün onu görmeye gittim - I went seeing him today

Bu filmi görmeye niyetim yok - I have no intention of seeing this movie

As the Turkish language is tend to use nouns, English sentences having "to infinitive" often translated in Turkish  using -meye:

I am trying to break your heart - Kalbini kırmaya çalışıyorum.

If you analyse the sentence, you will see what we say literally:

I am trying (for) breaking your heart.
