Good question. I was about to write about it.

Ex: Bana mektup yazdırdı.

He made me write a letter.

In English me is the direct object of the main sentence.

But in Turkish it is indirect object of the sentence. Mektup is the direct object.

But this causes some confussions for me.When I look at the sentence I also catch this kind of a meaning: "Bana mektup yazdırttı" "He made someone write a letter to me". And if I add someone into the sentence it is a little weird. "Birisine bana mektup yazdırttı."

But what if there was no direct object? If it was an intransitive verb? In that case the actor would become a direct object, isn´t it?

                   Beni ağlattı. ´He made me cry.´

And

              Bana bir ırmak ağlattı ´He made my cry a river´

respectively...

(O) beni ağlattı. Actor is "o". "beni" is the object.

That´s true that "it is a little weird". 

I think for me (benim için ) instead of to me (bana ) solves the problem in the sentence..

It should be a prepositional adjunct with için :

Birisine, benim için mektup yazdırdı .

IO.....noun/pro+için...DO ....vt + subject
