Thanks.

The example is from a grammar book (Göksel – Kerslake 2005). I do understand its function in that context is to show in which order grammatical suffixes are attached to a verb stem. So, it doesn’t have to be real language. What was interesting to me is how long grammatical formations Turks use in real life. In theory very long and complicated words are possible, of course, but at some point of complexity lexical means are preferred. That is what happened also when natives answered my question.

I wonder why they have used the stem döK- even though in contemporary language it is known as döv-. Anyway.

Neither harp00n nor AlphaF chose to use modal markers -DIr for ‘it is apparently the case that’ and –Abil- for ‘sometimes’ but used more words to express these things.

döğ|üş|tür|t|ül|me|yebil|iyor|muş|sunuz|dur

It is apparently the case that you sometimes were not made to fight.

Quoting Abla

You are different.

You are something else.

Your translation is correct, however,

In certain parts of Turkey, if you tell some one "Sen başkasın" - meaning a compliment - you may get a reply like "Esas sen başkasın" and a sour look will appear on the other guy´s face.

Can anyone explain why?

v|üş|tür|t|ül|me|yebil|iyor|muş|sunuz|dur

No?

It is apparently the case that you (pl.) sometimes were not made to fight.

Abla, where is "ebil" in the sentence above ?

why you made double causitive by adding extra "t" ?

why you put reported past "muş" ?

ok. take your english sentence ;

It is apparently the case that you sometimes were not made to fight.

ok. lets say -dır  can be translated as "  It is apparently the case that  " in this case.

but I cant see the connection between sometimes and -ebil.

I didn´t. Someone else did.

But I think -Abil- stands for ´sometimes´ in the English sentence. "It is possible that (in some occasions) X happened." I wish I could produce similar examples (in some language...).

Ok. lets accept -muş  too as it has past event with bit of guessing  "It is apparently "
and event that we havent witnessed.

but sorry I still can not get my head round with that -ebil and sometimes connection.

It is apparently the case that you sometimes were not made to fight.

STEP BY STEP

- You were not made to fight.........siz döğüştürülmediniz

- Sometimes you were not made to fight..... siz bazan döğüştürülmediniz

- It is the case that you sometimes were not made to fight..... Durum o ki,

   siz bazan döğüştürülmediniz.

- It is apparently the case that you sometimes were not made to fight ....

Durum o ki, görünüşe göre, siz bazan döğüştürülmediniz.

Alpha, do you mind if I do a final touch ? on  "bazen and vüş "

note : in my opinion , -miş also can be used as guessing and it is an unwitnessed event.
