they are saying to you or you call and they say it aloud to another person? do they use your name like "denis arıyor"? meaning denis is calling.

Denise, iyor is continous tense and it always comes after a verb. So only possible option is you couldn´t hear the verb.

how could it be eating?

yemek = to eat

yiyor = eating (ye + iyor = yiyor) present continuous tense for 3rd person singular (he/she/it/Denise)

Denise yemek yiyor Denise is eating (food).

Denise yiyor Denise is eating.

but then the person on the phone would say "denis yemek yiyor" because you cannot say "to eat" without any object.
