How different? I dont see a big difference. If he could speak proper English I am sure he would understand you. You should tell him to go to an English course. There are many courses in Turkey. He can learn some English in a year and he can communicate without help.

i changed the,

reading about -> research to see if i can learn it

for you -> about learning your language

try hard -> struggle for it

meaningful -> very valuble

i like when someone explains like this. i speak with a friend who also has some english, better than my turkish, and i know he sometimes uses google translate. he used that phrase "very valuable" and i was not sure exactly what he meant. with your explanation above, now i understand better so thanks. i find that it is not just about learning the words, it is also about learning and understanding the rhythm or phrasing of the words. so even to learn one small thing at a time like this is good for me.
