Well my Turkish adventure wasn´t a happy ending but if it comforts anyone.. He never did anything wrong. He was really sweet and never cheated or anything like that.

The reason things went wrong was just me, he did nothing wrong So I believe if you deeply love someone, you can have a better ending than I did

speaking at least one same language with a level of proficiency would help too. Tc can help with there day to day problems.

Yes that is true.. I was lucky, his English was excellent so we never experienced language problems

what your honesty shows that even with communication many relationship fail with no harsh reasons. To me it is funny to see some of the ones on here so desparate that they lay out all their dirty laundry here to be with some idiot who can not speak a lick of a common language.  Statistic show that almost 60 percent of what seems to be good relationship end within 5 years - just long enough to make 1.4 kids  .... Imagine if you can barely speak the language during the beginning......

I totally agree. And I wonder what those relationships are based on. Must be purely looks and sex... I could never ever be with someone that I can´t have a nice deep conversation with.
But yes.. we are not being very romantic. I am still hoping for everyone that things turn out for the better, but I wouldn´t take the risk. Love and life are hard enough if you understand each other, those other relationships... I give them 1 year until the passion gets a little lower, and then you are replaced by the new toy, or by a serious girlfriend. Mostly of course. There will always be exceptions who really do like each other and at least try to learn each other´s language and fight for what they have.

I agree with what you say and yes if they bothered to learn the language it would be helpful but you see them posting the same crap month after month relying on someone else to figure out what their love one wants or says .... is a little sad , is a little funny, hopefully stastics will change for them but stastics say they will last less than 14 months when they finally are together living  day to day life...

we could make them flash cards for everyday life instead and they could just line them up
