Merhaba.

For a long time I´ve believed that the word "kuşku" as "a doubt about sth" is used with the Ablative case -den. Maybe that was because of the construction: -den kuşku duymak.

But recently in a Turkish book I found a sentence starting with:

"Tarihe olan kuşkum hâlâ sürdüğü için,..."

And here, as you can see it is Dative case additionally followed by the participle "olan".

So is it the only correct form for "my doubt about history"

or can it also be "tarihten kuşkum" or "tarihten olan kuşkum".?

Also is the word "olan" really neccessary in the original sentence?

"kuşku" ve "şüphe" eş anlamlı. İkisi de birbirinin yerine kullanılabilir. ("kuşku" and "şüphe" are synonyms. Both can be used instead of each other.)

kuşku=şüphe

kuşku/şüphe duymak = kuşkulanmak/şüphelenmek

for the suffix -en/-an

tarih+e--->tarihe (to the history)

tarihe ol+an-->tarihe olan (the one that is to the history)

tarihe olan kuşkum (direct: my doubt that is to the history)

"tarihten olan kuşkum" da anlaşılır ama -den hâli burada kulağa bayağı tuhaf gelir. -e hâli daha uygun. ("tarihten olan kuşkum" is understandable, too, but the ablative case is so odd to hear here. The dative case is more suitable.)
