The next installment And I have an idea for corrections:- to make grammatical corrections in red (even if the word/phrase is wrong!), and wherever a word, phrase or sentence needs expressing differently, put what it should be changed to with a quick note. For example, for "I saw cats" (using the wrong kind of saw!) -
kedilar kesdim ----> kediler kestim [kesmek means cut!] gördüm
This means I will learn grammar errors even from the words that are wrong
I´m especially conscious my mistakes lead to your typing a lot... this can be lessened if you just correct the grammar elements with little explanation, and then in response I can ask for explanations of any of your corrections I can´t work out the reason for, as I´ll be able to work out some of them just by the corrections
I´m also very interested in alternatives that might have also been used, I´ve put them in [grey], so that a line can be put through them (to show they´re wrong) or they can be approved as alternatives
I´m conscious my -dik words here will be wrong, smile and be gentle
Dün yine [tekrar?] bisikletimle o şehirde oldum. Gittiğim yol uzun idi.
Yesterday again with my bike I was in the city. The road I travelled was long.
Ama [fakat?] yanlış evi söylendim [verildim?]. O söylendiğim [verildiğim?] ev karanlıkta kaldı ve evlerin numaralarları [hiçbir evin numarası] göremedüm. Bile o yolun işareti yok tu!
- But I had been given the wrong house. The house I was given stood in the dark and the houses´ numbers I could not see. There was even no road sign!
Aniden bir mesaj telefonumda aldım. Altiğim ne, doğru yolu bana anlattı. Fakat nerede bu yol bilmedim!
Suddenly I received a message in my phone. What I received explained to me the right road. But I did not know where the road was!
Çok şükür jogging yapan bir kadın rastladım. Onun cep telefonusuda haritaye bakarak gerektiğim yolu gördüm.
By great luck I encounted a lady who was jogging. By looking at the map on her mobile phone I saw the road I needed.
Sonunda evi ulaştım. Bu evin kapısında vurdum. Kızımın dostunun annesi kapıyı açtı ve kızım topladığımdan sonra eve birlikte uzun bir yürüyüşı yürüdük.
In the end I reached the house. I knocked on this house´s door. My daughter´s friend´s mother opened the door and after collecting my daughter we walked together the long walk home.
Thanks so much again for your invaluable help! a little while of this and I should get much better
