If there are Rusian people, they'll probably give more examples. I just wanted to write here something similar that i've found between Turkish and Russian languages..
For example a Turkish word 'durak' is 'fool' in Russian! (every Russian laughs whenthey hear that)
Tur 'kulak' is Rus 'fist'
kabak-->bar, (squash would be kabaçok!!!
kanat--> thick rope
karpuz sounds like karapuz which is a "little kid, baby"
and such words as 'özüm' is 'izüm' in Russian
pilav-->plov

these are just the few i could think of right now. if anybody else knows words that sound like words in another language, please share!

If the Russians laugh hearing "durak" in the sense of "a stop" not "a fool" then think what a Polish person's reaction is to hear the word "kupa" only to realise that it means "a cup" not "poo" as it does in Polish. Also, a quite common Turkish name - Burak in Polish means "beetroot" but its slang use is "a hillbilly"

Thank you for sharing! Since I'm a linguist i'm very interested in the etymology of languages, and their integration with one another. Are there other linguists here? Would love to know you!

I am a linguist in a way. I did my MA thesis in English semantics at university but I have always been more interested in phonetics and grammar than semantics. Still, if you need any help with your research, I'll gladly do it.

Yes, they are borrowings from Russian. I had read soewhere that Russian has more Turkish borrowings (more than 2 thousand) but I don't what they are. Maybe I know one

Çay -- Tea should be a borrowing from Turkish.

As for a funny example. I heard this from an American guy.

He called a company in Turkey to talk to somebody. A lady picked up the phone and he said to her that he wanted to speak to some guy. And the lady kept saying "Evet, fakat" (Yea, but) in Turkish. An the guy misunderstood that she kept saying (evet, f**k it) in English.

And yet another.
Once a Turkish girl from Bulgaria went to a cafe in Bursa.The waiter asked her "what do you like to drink?" and she answered "bana bi sok lutfen". "sok" means "juice" in Bulgarian.But in Turkish when you found a sentence like that it means in slang "f**k me once please".
