I know what you referred to, and they were just jokes!

And if you want to learn, then you shouldn't feel offended if someone tells you that you spelled askim incorrect. You probably knew, but just didnt use the special characters, but if you wanna learn, these are what you have to deal with.

And I can relate to the september joke It was a good one And you won't be fluent by september. Nor will I, though just like you, I'll go to my love in September too. But we'll just work hard and see where we end, won't we?

I think maybe what irish chick doesnt like is being picked up on spellings like cok instead of çok or simdi instead of şimdi. I get picked up on this as well but this is not because I dont know the correct spelling but because, despite having set up my keyboard so that I can switch to typing Turkish characters, when I do this (in chat room for instance) the spelling comes out in a quite peculiar way with 'y' for i for example and others I cant think of at the moment and looks stupid. Therefore it is a bit annoying to get picked up on small points like this. Typing in this format is okay because of the Turkish characters at the top.

exactly lady in red (love that song)and when your learning something in my opinion it is a bit unfair to be picked up on little things like that after putting the effort into it in the first place

Why switch keyboards layouts???

I have written a custom keyboard layout that solves this problem - it adds the Turkish characters to the existing English keyboard layout without losing anything of the original setup. I have also made it freely available. So why do you think you need to change keyboard layouts???

If you haven't seen this custom layout yet then you can find all the information you need at this URL:

Thanks - I'll try it. But can you explain why when I type using Turkish characters it doesnt translate properly at the other end. I was recently in Turkey and sent my husband an email from a Turkish friend's computer and it came out really strange on our computer at home - it was readable but a lot of the characters had changed. Do you know why?
