Quoting Trudy: Quoting CANLI: İ really dont understand your point !
Why do we accept what you dont accept ?! |
Then you must read better what I wrote. I didn't say a personal attack. I said an attack (or questioning, commenting, critisizing) towards a religion. Quite a difference. |
You dont understand Trudy,
Our religion is part of us,attacking what i believe is attacking what i do,is attacking me.
İf you said İslam is nonsense, and full of bull sh*t as been said here before,
And i live accourding to its rules, because i believe in it.
Then what would that makes me ?!
A very wise woman ?!
Trudy,
When they criticise Dutch here, you didnt accept it,and defend it .
So you are surprise why we defend what we believe ?!

Quoting Trudy: Quoting zettea: Some Muslims are too influenced with CULTURE and they confuse it with ISLAM. |
I agree that more people should realise the differences between religion and culture. But sometimes it is hard to realise this, especially if believers say all their acts are based upon their beliefs, even if it's murder.
Second point: why do people do not want to see or admit that giving comments, critisize, asking questions about the 'so-called truth' and even attacking is NOT the same as hating? Why do people are so easily insulted if an outstander (or even an insider!) says anything they don't like? If someone says anything about a religion, the books and rules it does not mean s/he says anything about the believer as a person, or is the believer the religion itself? Seems quite arrogant to me.

Yeah there's a fine line between hating and stating honest opinions...
it depends on how two parties approach the discussion no? if it's a debate sort of thing then we'e expected to back up what we say from sources... however if someone just state a general opinion then it's up to the other party to agree or disagree... just dont get personal and emotional... Personally if i read comments or assumptions about Islam that i dont agree with i will try to clear the point to the best of my knowledge... if the other party is not interested or worst if he/she starts getting rude.. i simply pray may God show him/her the way. I dun start hating the person lol Everyone has their own set of principles and beliefs... principles can change with time but beliefs are more resistant to change. We cant expect everyone to agree in one discussion.
it's like milk. some people hate milk and can give all sorts of reasons why they hate milk(people who dont agree with a certain religion and dont follow it). Some love milk and can support why they love milk so much(People who agree with the religion and follow it). Some people can do with or without milk (People who dont really care)Some loves milk but their body cant take milk!(People who loves a religion and respect their practises but still feel the religion is just not right for them, and so be it..)
You've got milk?
Now, let's not digress frm topic lol
so wad abt eng-turk relationships?

You exactly understood what I mean. If people say things you don't like about your religion - italising it to make the difference clear between general comments and personal ones, shrug or (what you do) pray for them.
Sorry, I don't have milk.
And about EN-TU relationships, I can't tell you, I'm not English....

As for Darfur,
Darfur for those who dont know,is south of Sudan,in Africa
İts actually part of Sudan.
And a few few years ago they've discoverd Uranium there,'sorry, not oil!'
And guess what,
Suddenly this poor area got weapons, and start to demand to be sperated from their mother country which is Sudan
And then start to sing that lovely song about how the government mistreat them 'as most of them have become Christians'
And then the Great countries out of their kind hearts want to help Darfur people ,not for the Uranium of course !
İ wonder, who has giving them the weapons at the first place, and why ?!
Opppss,forgot to add,Sudan İS a Muslim Country !

Canli - two points:
1. If you don't have anything to feel insecure about, criticism won't hurt you. If there's unjust criticism, it may hurt, but you can always IGNORE IT.
2. If IN THE NAME OF YOUR RELIGION people do horrible things, it's time we question those beliefs and criticize some of them. We did that in Christianity and it turned out to be a good thing!

I agree that sometimes the criticism is thrown in the form of an attack, but the fact is that I haven't seen almost anybody here who would take ANY criticism as criticism. You ALWAYS perceive it as an attack, even when it's not intended to be one... and that's the problem.

whats wrong in attacking / criticising islam?
femme's question is right question.
How come you miss this very basic point: If there is an idea, there will be criticisims as well.
Right, lets go to the book.
Can anybody tell me that Islam gives same right to women as well as men? Give me the name of the verses from Kuran. I will go and read it again, I promise.
What are you talking about here. Even the most sophisticated muslim 'alim' wont say anything about equality. He will try to explain 'god did not create us equal. Women has different job to do in this world etc etc'.
