Make-up or No Make-up

Do turkish men prefer women with make-up (mascara, foundation, lipstick etc....) or without make-up.
My opinion- I have not yet worn make-up with Omer. He loves "natural beauty", or so he claims.
I see Turkish women, and I find them quite beautiful, and wonder what he sees in me without make-up.
Thoughts?

What does it matter what Turkish men prefer???
If you feel better with makeup, wear it - if not then don't!!!
Simple really.......

My immediate response- it doesn't matter.
I love being free of make-up. ( I have to dress up an wear make-up for my job) But, when free form (make-up free), in Istanbul, I see so many beautiful women, quite made up. I can't help but wonder if I am attractive without make-up.
Omer says yes.... but I still wonder.
We are much more casual in the USA- I often go out in sweat pants and T-shirt. Unheard of Turkey.
Why all of the discussion? I am preparing to live in Turkey. I think I have to adjust my living styles.

When I was in Turkey it was too hot to wear make-up. It just melted off. I was make-up free all the time and so were most of the other women. Maybe in night clubs people wore some but I didn't see excessive make-up anywhere. Once I was at a pool and my lips, i have large ones, felt dry, so I put on some clear chapstick. There was a group of men next to me that went crazy because I was putting on chapstick. They told me that, that was sexy. Who knows. But I think in general men prefer women to look beautiful naturally. I live in US and many men here prefer minimal to no make-up. I am also from California where natural beauty is praised.

I have no problems with make-up, I am NOT against it if it makes one woman feel better and look prettier.
I come from south america where most women wear quite a lot of make up (I'm from Chile) and I do wear it , not a lot but I do and it makes me feel prettier FOR MYSELF not for others ....what I mean to say is :
- Be yoursel, If you like it DO wear it !!!
-If you prefer to look more "natural" don't but...I WOULD NEVER change it because the man who I am with does not want me to wear it!! if so..I'd tell him to look for a "make-up free" girl then!!
Just try to moderate it because some women wear TOO MUCH and some might look like a w*** you know what I mean.
What do men prefer?? IT'S NOT IMPORTANT ! What counts is what YOU PREFER and how you feel about it...I'd make up the same way in Chile, Turkey , Saudi Arabia or Sudan....

I am sure I have lots to learn about Turkish culture.....
But I do not understand why a girl worries about what men think about them with or without makeup - and if they are unsure then why don't they simply ask their boyfriend?????
Makeup is to make the wearer feel happier - not onlookers!!!

I happen to agree with the rest of what you say.......
Makeup is there to make the wearer feel happier - not those who happen to look at the wearer. But the wearer of makeup does not have to be a girl!!! Personally, about the only time I don't wear makeup is when I go out to work.

Let's be honest...
Make-up enhances our best features. Of course the wearer of make-up is delighted with how he/sho looks. That is the primary reason for wearing make-up.
But, we also seek to look good to our significant other, or for all others, so it is for he/she too..,
I just find it impressive that a man (my bf) could love me so much completely unadorned and make-up free.
He is obsessed with loving me naturally....
I like it! As I said before, he has never seen me with make up.

if you do much make-up, it makes boys think:
"this girl thinks that she was beautiful?"
and they don't think so although that girl is beautiful.
by the way, girls try always to be more sexy. then, boys get unbalanced, and thinks always sex, and then girls always cry: "why is this boy not emotional? why does he think always sex?"
well, i think the reason a little bit these girls.
let them see the real beauty in you, not only the beauty of your body/phsical appearance... this will help us (boys), and so help you (girls) too.

In my opinon most turkish men prefer no make up. I suffer with red skin and wear a little foundation and have been told that I look beter with out it ("natural beauty is better"), but I still wear it for myself it makes me feel better.
In England there are more teenage boys wearing make up now, I know at least 4 young lads that do, not that they brag about it. It makes them feel better about the way they look.

I don wear a,ot of make up - I was always such a tomboy ( for those who dont know what a Tomboy id, a girl that likes boys activities such as tree climbing, fishing, etc etc) I never did all those girly things, so today I am still much that way. And besides I cant see without my glasses so how do you put makeup on when you cant see ?? When I do manage, it is a bit of lipstick, eyeshadow and the minimum of mascara and I do it for myself not others!! Perfume is my weakness!

Oh - me too girls! Dont think I possessed a doll! Climbed trees, played cricket and football, lived on roller skates. Then I grew up and had 3 sons so I've had a pretty 'un-girly' life really!!

What amazes me about you tom-boys is why you write in the past tense......
Are you saying you no longer climb trees or go roller skating???
Life is too short for being all grown up!!!

I have three brothers no sisters so growing up I was also a tom boy. I played every sport there was and so competitive. My bestfriend was a little blond hair, blue eyed boy down the street, we were unseperatable. I went to a private school so we weren't permitted to wear make up. But when I moved out of my parents house, all hell broke loose. I discovered short skirts, curling irons and yes make up. I don't wear it everyday. Just usually when I want to look my best going out. I guess I'm stubborn, I wouldn't let a man dictate to me whether or not to wear make up, even if he had a preference. You need to be yourself make up or not. My ex-boyfriend was in a band and wore eyeliner, it didn't bother me a bit. If it made him feel good, so be it. I would say I'm a girly girl now, but a tom boy at heart.

You say that as if some people would be bothered by it......
Generally the only time I don't wear makeup is when I go out to work (I work in primary schools). Other than that I very rarely go out without some makeup. Only nail varnish, eyeliner and eyeshadow usually though - plus sometimes mascara but I hate putting it on :-S
Quoting teaschip: I would say I'm a girly girl now, but a tom boy at heart. |
Yes - I would say the same thing about myself......
Although perhaps I am more gothy than girly - who knows???? I don't like labels!!!
But discovering short skirts was certainly a good thing for me
