Pls keep in mind Eating bacon is not prohibitted in Turkey. Bacon can be eaten/sold and bought in TUrkey . So enjoy your bacon

But I am not sure if you are allowed to carry any food into an airplane .. That shold be the question

How are you going to bring meat without it going bad? Anyway, most countries, its against the law to bring meat or dairy products in your luggage.

I have seen canned bacon in U.S. stores, although I have no idea whether it's any good. You could surely bring canned bacon in your checked luggage

As far as the Uk goes it is not allowed to take meat products/dairy products or anything made from an animal to another non EU countryin UK law,There is an extension to this plants that are in leaf are not allowed, although seeds/saplings are not a problem they are ok.Maybe the laws are different for the US?Hope it helps!

Theoretically it is illegal to bring bacon in ... although many do

You can buy bacon in Istanbul in large Migros, in Okko stores in Kozyatağı area, and in posh charcuteries. But usually it is about 1 million per slice: a lot more than you would pay in UK or US

Mylo

It is not for ocean, but for her friend. Ocean, I wish I had a friend like you ... thoughtfully wanting to bring something I might miss. Please can everyone in Turkish Class coming to Istanbul note the following list for me:

Double Gloucester Cheese
Red Leicester Cheese
Large pack of bacon
A nice pork pie
Holland & Barretts crystallized ginger or ginger covered in chocolate
Pot of marmite
Independent newspaper (nice and crisp, not pages all wrinkled because you have read it first, and certainly DON'T touch the crossword!)
Pack of Boddingtons draught cans

Well, I had beter stop there, or you will all be stopped by customs ....

Ouh how I agree with you on the Independent's crossword!! I am an addict I can't guarantee that the chocolate ginger will arrive ...intact...

Will note down your list and deliver to the book shop when I finally get to visit Istanbul soon
