Tolerance is the key word here. As we have our different personalities and habits, we should not expect others to agree on everything with us.

Just accept your friends as they are and don't hold back when you can help them whenever they are in need.

That's my two cent's worth about friendships .

Lying can become a habit to some, unfortunately. Once you start telling lies, you’ll probably have to “cover-up” your tracks with more lies. So that’s why people keep lying. Yeah, and I agree with Daydreamer on the various reasons for lying…sad but true.

Yup, I think Istanbul is a lovely city. I was there last month during wintertime and it's just so romantic

I went to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofya, The Blue Mosque, then on to the Grand Bazaar. Later that evening we went to Taksim Square and then dinner at Kumkapi at one of the taverns.

I was on a tour so we were only shown the touristy places . Nevertheless it was still fun and it made me really like the city.

I was in Istanbul on a Saturday night so Taksim Square was packed! There was like this mass exercise going on as people were walking and walking; ignoring the shops.

Where is everyone heading by the way? We didn't walk to the end of the road because we had to strictly keep to our time. Also, we were afraid we'd get stuck in the crowd somewhere so we turned back as soon as we could. But it was a definitely memorable night for me and my friends.

The next day we went on the cruise of the Bosphorus then on to the Orient Express for lunch at the famous railway station!

That was our last stop before heading for the airport to depart from Turkey. With only one and a half days in Istanbul, I think I would have missed a lot of the interesting sites.

Ah well, a good reason to head back to Istanbul when an opportunity arises

I'm a new member and found this site while searching for "Turkish Lessons" on the Internet. First of all, to the people behind admin: great job! The Turkish lessons here are much easier to follow than some others I've found on the Net!

The reason I'm learning Turkish is because I have a dream of living there someday. Well, as all of you have discussed under this topic here, Turkey is beautiful and those who visit the country will usually fall in love with it...which includes me.

I'm from Malaysia and visited Turkey in March 2005. The tour that I was on - Seven Churches and Cappadocia - took me from Istanbul, to Troas, to Izmir, then on to Konya and Cappadocia and back to Istanbul via Ankara.

I absolutely loved it and yeah, although tourists are only shown the best parts of a country (which tour operator will show its visitors the "ugly" side?), I believe that Turkey will be a good place to live in.

As mentioned in this forum, I also noticed that there's a water problem in Istanbul. The hotel I lived in had a notice asking its guests to use water wisely. Also, unlike in Malaysia, the water isn't drinkable after boiling.

Ah well, every country has its good and bad side to it...and the best way to really discover all that is - I believe - by living there?!
