[DIARY OF A FUTURE BRIDE] Pride and independence

"[...]I advise all of my expat sisters who have married into the culture to take some time to self-reflect on these issues, and address them if you see fit. Maintain your independence, but merge it with your new life. Being honest with myself saved my relationship, and opened the doors for me to love Turkey again in a whole new light."

Israel ´to announce ceasefire´

"[...[The sources stressed that this was a unilateral action by Israel. How Hamas responds remains to be seen.

Hamas insists that any ceasefire must involve Israeli troops withdrawing from Gaza and an immediate lifting of the Israeli blockade."

In the street outside a central Istanbul synagogue, traders have hung huge Palestinian flags.

They have sewn the Turkish national flag to the top - a mark of solidarity for those suffering in Gaza.

"We are all Palestinian now"

Claims have been received by the BBC and an Israeli human rights group that Israeli troops have fired on Gaza residents trying to escape the conflict area.

[...] "They told us you all have to go to the centre of the town, where the school is.

"We put the women first, and we put our children on our shoulders, with white bandanas on their heads.

"When we were walking, with the women first, they saw soldiers and they started to shout to them, to tell them ´we have children, we have children´. They started to shoot us. My aunt was killed with a bullet in her head."
