I think she has made a good point! The site is short of moderators and he was a good one.

I can agree he was a good turkish teacher, but a good moderator? Hmm...

Slavica - you're an artist, what an amazing post!
I absolutely agree with Aenigma about Erdinc and about that syndrome TC seems to have.
Erdinc is an excellent teacher, the way he was explaining the language was brilliant and teaching Turkish on TC suffers a lot since Erdinc left. Erdinc is also very intelligent, eloquent, serious, honest and full of interesting ideas. He is also completely obsessed about his country...
As a moderator, he contributed to developing TC Rules, which turned out to be necessary, but on the field, he was an absolute dictator. Either his way, or highway. Only his type of views were allowed to be expressed, he always had the last word, he was deleting members and threads out of personal fights and for subjective reasons. Many valuable members left this site because of Erdinc.
I am surprised to hear people saying that they want Erdinc to come back as a moderator, not so long ago, I was getting messages all the time saying that he ruined TC and they wanted him out...

slavica...what am amazing post. you brought back all the memories of what erdinç has done for this site and for the turkish language learners.
i didn't have much to do with erdinç on a personal level, but i do remember his grammar posts which were always helpful.
also his posts about magandas and arabesk music were always interesting and humourous at times. they made me laugh, even if they weren't supposed to.
he is missed on tc, but there are also other native turkish speakers who have stepped into his place to help us out.
i hope erdinç is doing well with his thesis and whatever else he is doing.
thank you.

Slavica :
What you have written is BY FAR the best Post I have EVER read on turkish class!!! ( and I am one old member!)...simply a MASTER PIECE!
It brought back many memories about our teacher and I have to say I never saw him as a "dictator" ,strict yes, but never a dictator. Everything he did was for the benefit of the site.Whenever I asked for help, he helped me, WHENEVER I wrote to him, he replied to me and WHENEVER I gave one suggestion to him HE ANSWERED BACK ...
I feel nothing BUT GRATEFULNESS towards him, a very smart , strict but dedicated person whose passion is TEACHING ...
Thank you once again, good luck in all your proyects and when you have time, go back...
Dilara

As was mentioned here before, he's a gift when it comes to language, but his reigning supreme frustrated me to death.

some ppl are just like little children. they never know what they know or what they want.
i just wonder it must be really hard to be a host of such site. everybody wants something usually according to what they feel (in what mood they are) at the moment.

Of course they do! We are humans, not robots! And, if someone is so set in their ways and arrogant that they can NEVER change their mind or opinion, then I pity them

How i agree with this. I have been a member of this site since November 2005 and i agree Erdinc was a very good teacher and was on the whole very helpful. I would like to take this oppertunity to thank him for all his hard work and contributions he gave to this site , but i must say that he did only allow his views to be expressed. I feel the site when down when Kader was deleted over such a little misunderstanding and because some members dared to argue with Erdinc, they too were either deleted or just left out of frustration.
