It was a great idea to open the topic for thanking one valuable member of our community, who is, unfortunatly, not much with us anymore, for everything he has done for us.

Your thread was, as usual, ruined by discussion which has nothing to do with the topic…

…but it didn’t surprise me – I’ve got used to spoiling threads

What really surprised me was the fact that nobody (with exception of Dilara) replied your message. Is it possible that no one has anything to say about the member who gave such a huge contribution to this site? If new members don’t remember him, where are the old members? Is our memory really so bad?

Slavica's post describes Erdinc in the best way. Shows all his sides. The good and the bad ones. And points out his enormous contribution to this website.

I voted for him in the thread about the most helpful member of TC for 2006. I think he is the one who deserves this title most.

I have been a lazy student and I find it hard to exercise and improve my skills in turkish language, mostly because I cant find any spare time to do so. But the exercises he was giving, were making it easy and challenging to study.

Like Slavica mentioned, I also have called him a dictator many times. His strict way of moderating was driving me mad sometimes. But whenever I took the time to look deeper, behind what was appearing as obvious with him, I could see someone sensitive, pure, romantic and dedicated.

For all the reasons that made me love and appreciate Erdinc (when I was not mad at him ) and for what I 'saw' in him while he was trying hard to hide, i once dedicated him a song in a thread. Right now I feel like dedicating it to him again. So here it goes:

Slavica how on earth did you manage to dig up all those quotes?!! I can’t get too sentimental about Erdinc, although I respected him a great deal and made many attempts to "make the peace" with him, he was never anything but rude and aggressive towards me – his private messages had to be seen to be believed.

However, I think (maybe because of this) people develop what I like to call “the Gordan Ramsey” syndrome, i.e. if someone is so rude and hard to please, the very slightest praise or kindness they give is worth double that from anyone else. (Another case to prove my point – Rain ).

Anyway, I do confess to missing him a tad when things get out of hand here. Maybe I miss him in the way a mouse misses a cat – things are quieter, but it’s less fun when you have no fear of death whilst playing in the house

PS. Incidently there WAS no apology - his comment about my new usename was merely sarcasm!

I have one short comment - Slavica you have brought back the meaning of this site by one rather well researched post! Well done - I hope it is heeded.
