Quoting bod:

If it is - why the genative suffix and why -la and not -li?

If you cared to look at THIS post, maybe you would understand it more easily.

-le -la is used to say 'together with', when -li is to show that something is made/composed/constituted of/with something else.

I m sorry my english is not good enough to explain this better to you, but come on, it's easy

...still no zillionaires in sight? ...does this mean a poor tiger and a poor lioness will have to take care of themselves?

Yes canım, no zillionaires in sight yet Not even that mamav we were desperately looking for.
As you can see, I m trying to build up a reasonable budget for my holidays, by writing my thoughts here and begging for my two pennies.

Thinking...

İn English we can say some, and put both words in plural too,as in children and books

We don't do this Türkçe'de ?

As far as I know, when you use words like kaç, birkaç, etc or when you use a number in the sentence, you can't use plural.

For example:

- Bir tost kaç lira?
- Bir tost iki lira

- Bir yılda kaç hafta var?
- Bir yılda elli iki hafta var

But, you say:

- Evde çocuklar var
- Dolapta tabaklar var

Driving in Turkey is not so bad. I have driven along the Aegean coastline (from the greek borders to kusadasi without a stop)and I had no problem at all.

My only fear was to drive IN Istanbul. I had been several times there and I can assure you, being in a taxi was a real nightmare.

Last month I was feeling brave enough to go to Istanbul by my car. Well, it was hard to drive in the city centre but not as much as i was expecting it to be. After all, I m here, alive, which means I made it. But after surviving Istanbul's streets, I feel I can drive anywhere

Thank you very much Cyrano

I have already booked a room in a bangalow hotel there. I m going to be there this Sunday.
Just, the price is soooo cheap and the hotel looks soooo good, that it really made me wonder if it was too good to be true.
I m glad you recommend it. This means that you have heard nice things about this island, right?
Thanks again. It definately looks like an amazing quiet place, where I can charge my batteries, before the Istanbul meeting with crazy Daydreamer and X-Man

Is the -li suffix above the same -li suffix as in:
şekerli kahve

Used above because of meeting with friends?

Nope. To say 'with' you use the -le or -la suffix.
When you want to say 'with somebody, with friends etc'

Sorry Sophie - see this thread

My reply Bod, was for this part of your question:
'Used (-li) above because of meeting with friends?'

When you want to say I m doing something with somebody/something, then you use -le or -la. Not -li

for example:

- Bod Yağmur'la evleniyor
Bod is getting married to (with) Yağmur

- İşime otobüsle gidiyorum
I m going to my work by (with) bus

- Yemeğimi çatalla yemiyorum
I eat my food with a fork

But we use -li to say:

- Sütlü kahve istiyorum
Ι want coffee wıth mılk

- üç odalı bir ev
A house wıth 3 rooms

Do you catch the difference?
