hi
in arabic there are more letters than in english, so when we write sms we use some numbers to symbolise letters
here for example it was written as me2ayyar instead of me'ayyar

İ'm not very good in using those symbols, but here is what i know of them,
2 means ء
2' means أ
3 means ع
3' means غ

This all what i know.

And for this in the Turkish translation,so
İt can be, can sıkmak Türkçede.

the rest are:

5 or 7' for خ
6 for ط
7 for ح
8 for ق
9 for ص
9' for ض

Arabic has only 22 letters compared to 26 in english...
reason we end to use symbols and numbers when writing in ltain alphabets {english, spanish, turkish, etc.} is because Latin is not supportive to Arabic. Latin and greek have less sounds than Arabic, but has more unnecessary letters.

arabic has 28 not 22!!!!
but i agree with u that we use "latin" letters to symbolise sounds more than letters

m2ayyar ..(Mssyyar= Motta'a)

Thse are form of temporary marriage, or a contract to co habit.
it is agreed in advance what each party will provide the other duirng the term (term can be anything form 30 minutes to years, but termination date is required)
The contract also stipulates settleemnt at the end of the contract.
Its much more civiled than cohabiting in lets say U.K. wher at the end ther can be alot of acrimonious feelings.

so what does this temporary 'contract' allow them to do then? and doesn't it make a slight mockery of marriage just my opinion

It sounds like a very good idea to me! Why on earth does it make a mockery of marriage? Marriage does that well enough on its own!! People go in to marriage promising to be with eachother "until they die", "to be faithfull" - how many achieve this?

I am not against marriage at all, but I would not make such a promise unless I was SURE. At least this contract covers the legal aspects of living with someone and avoids anyone losing money or property if you separate.

the definition of mssyyar is:
a couple getting married for some time but THE FEMALE is giving up some or ALL of her rights
that means the wife has no rights on her husband, he comes to her whenever he wants, he doesnt have to pay anything as "family support"...etc
thats why in my opinion its just a mockery of marriage and only desperate women can do such a thing
when there is real marriage why to go for mssyyar marriage unless the guy is not serious or the girl is tooo desperate

mssyyar is a mockery of marriage

Ahh! hahaha - I thought it was too good to be true! In that case, again - I would say it's NOT a mockery of marriage, just another example of the sexism which still seems rife in some countries. I would imagine women have few more rights in their marriage either lol

I could only judge my earlier posts on Ametis's description of this contract!

yea i thought u will agree robyn
and as aenigma x said it's just all about sexism

but it drives me crazy when the girl herself accepts such a thing and gives up her rights

no canli..i find that successes and failures i have made were down to my conduct..therefore i make my life what it is..let's not get all silly here and say that we all want to be millionaires so should be..i'm talking about normal, everyday things here just to clarify that..

having learnt through experience, as you travel the colourful journey of life you will find that not all failures or successes are down to your own behaviour. Therefore life is not that simple and not always as you want it to be.

yea maybe some things are out of our hands but it shouldn't make us get to a point when we give up lots of our rights
some things can get out of our hands to some extent but they shouldnt get completely out of our hands right?

BTW I saw the title and I'd like to ask something. Before I met some arabic friends here, I thought there was only one arabic language and all the arabs understand each other, but then the Lebanese told me that he didn't understand the arabic of the algerians at all. There are different dialects but are they all that different and where is the pure arabic spoken, in Egypt?

Well,we cann't say really there is a country which do speak pure arabic,or formal arabic.
Each country from all the arabic spoken countries speak the arabic language on its own way, with its accent.

And its not easy for us to understand each other specially if they talk fast, you come to think its another foreigin language or something !

But mostly, they all understand our Egyptian Arabic very well, for many reasons,

Lots of Egyptians went and worked in all the Arab countries for many years,as teachers,so they were talking with our accent ofcourse.
Lots of people from other arab countr'es come and study at our Universities.
Our movies, series, actors, actress are well known there,so is our singers too.
Singers from other countries sang, and sing using our accent too.
So its very easy for them to understand ours.

But,when we write,we all write using same way, pure arabic,or formal arabic as we should write, and we all understand what ever anyone from any country write.
because we all use same formal language.

the formal arabic is not "spoken" anywhere, each country has it's own accent as canli said, but we use formal arabic for formal procedures and also maybe sometimes at universities, formal speaches...etc.
but in the streets if u speak formal ppl might laugh at u
