I have just come back from Turkey and one of my friends said that his father paid for him to only do 21 days in army. He did live in Germany before though so I dont know if that has anything to do with it?

Yes, it does have something to do with that. If you have lived abroad for at least three years, you can buy yourself out of doing military service. If you pay about 5000 euros you only have to do a symbolic three weeks.

Im not aware if he did live there for 3 years odd but he did say 4000 pounds so that is probably sowhere near to 5000 euro. I guess some people just aren't for it? I dont know..

When it all comes down to I think very few men actually want to do it. Well, I have never met anyone who wanted to join the army. Think about your freedom and everything that comes with it is taken away for 15 months...who would want this? I don't believe having some f**ktard shouting your mother is a whore while you're doing pushups in the mud makes you a man. You friend is really lucky that he gets off with three weeks.
Oh the glory of turkish army...........

I know yes, he did his army with Ismail YK if anyone is interested. (well apprently he told me this)
He did three weeks and now works in a normal job. Good for him I guess.
