they have to go wherever they are posted,cellphones/mobile phones etc are banned, leave can be cancelled at short notice, of course it can be dangerous its the army they have very little leave, its disciplined as you would expect...

Quoting geniuda: Hello,
my honey is currently serving the ARMY. He has to do 155 days (a little more than 5 months) because he attended University. He has done 11 days already and he has had the opportunity to call me a couple of times. According to him, the place where he is at is not in good conditions, meals are not good, they have to wake up very early and to go through rough work, but of course, what else can you expect at the ARMY, especially if you are not used to this lifestyle? hehe :-S . The good thing and what it recomforts him is that he will get used to it soon
have a great one!! |
i know a turkish friend who is serving army for 5 months too.
i wish them all luck.

In Holland there is a saying: the army makes a man out of you. Do they say that in Turkey too?

I have just come back from Turkey and one of my friends said that his father paid for him to only do 21 days in army. He did live in Germany before though so I dont know if that has anything to do with it?

Yes, it does have something to do with that. If you have lived abroad for at least three years, you can buy yourself out of doing military service. If you pay about 5000 euros you only have to do a symbolic three weeks.

Im not aware if he did live there for 3 years odd but he did say 4000 pounds so that is probably sowhere near to 5000 euro. I guess some people just aren't for it? I dont know..

When it all comes down to I think very few men actually want to do it. Well, I have never met anyone who wanted to join the army. Think about your freedom and everything that comes with it is taken away for 15 months...who would want this? I don't believe having some f**ktard shouting your mother is a whore while you're doing pushups in the mud makes you a man. You friend is really lucky that he gets off with three weeks.
Oh the glory of turkish army...........
