This one was suggested by Trudy! FILL IN THE BLANK IN "I DON'T .... ANY MORE"
The idea of a substitution drill is you practice using a bit of grammar by filling in the "..."
Give your own examples, but always put the English, too. If you aren't sure, have a try anyway. Someone else can correct you, and you will have learned something!
I don't love you any more: Artık seni sevmiyorum
I don't want to be your girlfriend any more: Artık senin kız arkadaşın olmak istemiyorum.
I don't play football any more: Artık futbol oynamıyorum.
I'm not afraid of you any more: Artık senden korkmuyorum.
Now it's over to you!

I don't understand how to do this anymore: Artık bunun nasıl yapıldığını anlamıyorum.
Elham: in this thread we are practicing the Turkish construct "Artık ... -mıyorum". Fill in the blank with anything you like.
Also put the English translation too. That way if you make a mistake, you can learn from someone else who will correct you, and anyone reading this thread can learn all sorts of things to say in a letter!

To have time: In Turkish we have to say "set aside time" = vakit ayırmak.
I think it is right to say:
Artık sana vakit ayıramıyorum.
If I am wrong, can a native speaker fix it, please

I will not promise anything more.
Artık hiç bir şey söz vermeceğim.(?)

Quoting MarioninTurkey: I'm not afraid of you any more: Artık senden korkmuyorum. |
I thought that korkmak was "to be scared of" and not "to be afraid of". The difference in English is subtle - does the same difference not exist in Turkish???
Or would the aorist tense of korkmak be better for "afraid" the the present continuous be better for "scared" ???

Hey Bod, it is often the case that Turkish has fewer words, so more than one thing in English has the same Turkish equivalent. Turks then make the subtle difference with tenses, and other explanations like biraz, çok etc.
A major exception is with family words. Where we have just one word for in-laws they seem to have millions!!!

I think "kola" is here a general term. If you were talking about the coke can in your hand, then you may say "kolayı", but general terms are like undefined objects. For that reason, you should say "kola içmek"
Artık kola içmek istemiyorum.
