Hello! Can someone please tell me how Bursa is? How many km is it away from Isanbul and from Canakkale. If i get by plane to Istanbul, what can i take in order to get to Bursa? Which is the shortest way?

If you want the easiest way... i would recommend you to go to bus station (Otogar) in Esenler, then take a bus from there... i would choose one of the companies from ULUSOY or VARAN, the chance of the workers there now english are higher than the others then approximately you are in Bursa in 3-4 hours. and they probably have services to uludag but i am not sure... there are a few more options but i think this is the simplest one have a nice trip

I went there by taking the ferry from Istanbul to Yalova(just more than one hour travel time). Then you can get on shuttle bus to get to the Terminal(otogar) where there are buses going to Bursa. The total travelling time is about 3 hours.

To me, Bursa is a small city which I didn't see too much difference from Istanbul, only it is not that busy. The most famous place is the snowy mountains for skiing. There is cable car service taking people uphills.

But if you come from a country having skiing sites and winter snowy sceneries, I don't think this is too spectacular a tourist place for visit.

Hotels are quite expensive during the cooler seasons as many rich Turkish will go there for holidays.

I planned to spend a week there but then I chose to leave after staying there 4 days. Umm, hope those from Bursa will not get mad with me...

Anyway hope you enjoyed your trip.

I want to go there in december, i come from Romania, and we do have here very nice skiing resorts, but still i want to go to Bursa. I have friends tehere that i want to see. Anyway it seems like a long trip...3 hours to get there and 3 hours to go back to the airport...isn't there a bus that takes you directly from the airport to Bursa??
Anyway thank you for the tips

Unfortunately no my friend...

but i wouldnt recommend to go to ferry terminal on december with lots of luggages... or you think about a daily trip?

actually you should count the distance from airport to ferry terminal aswell...

there is direct metro to bus station from airport... another way... maybe abit expensive you should check the rates... fly to Bursa from istanbul

If you have money, don't waste time with trains. Turkish trains are not comfortable for now.

Bursa is on the flight route to Istanbul...
Simply ask the pilot to drop you in Bursa ....

Absolute care is recommended to avoid Uludag peak...

Hey Lady_A!

I've been to Bursa 2 times now, both times by boat. It's an excellent trip, not very difficult to get there .

From Istanbul to Bursa it will take about 3 hours by boat if you go from Yenikapi (istanbul) to Yalova (bursa). From there it's still about 1 hour by bus/car. *Cars are allowed on the boat*

You can also go to the new boat'station', which is also in Bursa. I don't quite remember the name of the place, but they will know in Yenikapi . From Istanbul to that place it will take 1 hour by boat, and also an hour by bus again to the center of bursa.

Price information: The 3-hour trip is a bit cheaper, don't exactly remember, but the other one costs 20ytl for a single if I remember correctly.

About Bursa and the Uludag itself: It's absolutely beautiful!!! Bursa is a great city, comparable to Istanbul. You definitely have to go to the place from where you can see the whole of Bursa, and you should also take the chairlift which takes you up to the Uludag itself .

If you want to know more about how to get there and all send me a pm.. it's late here and my mind has stopped working .

Good luck and have a good time there!

The probem for Lady is to reach Yenikapi...
she need to take the taxi, which will cost aroud 20YTL i guess if the taxi driver doesnt try to steal her, to reach easy or she should use the complex ways of public transportation which would be hard for her...

Yalove itself is a city dear

and dont you dare to compare Istanbul to another city in Turkey!!

and here the website of boats from istanbul..

I took a bus from Taksim square to Yenikapi. It wasn't that hard actually! You have a mouth to ask where the bus is leaving from right? I had to ask about 4 times, and then I got right one! (I can even tell you from here where it is if you want to know ).

I think the public transport in istanbul is not that difficult actually. People are very helpful if you're a tourist, which makes it easier to find places .

I am the citizen of Istanbul dear you can believe me i know much more alternative ways to reach Bursa but it must be simplest and the easiest for her...

In winter travel with a ship... and to go Taksim first with Havas... then walking through the square and going to the bus stations on right... or also crossing the street and waiting at the station opposite to where you land... waiting for buses for Yenikapi... and reaching there... and you cant imagine how crowded are the public busses in winter... and think also about what time she will arrive... its all sth to add into account...

what i say is so simple:
Land from plane.... take a metro...(1,5YTL) and there you are in otogar... and take a bus... around 30-40 YTL... also you will be in a warm bus... with service all the time and also you will have ship tour too where you can feed seaguls

Agree with Sui.

Why struggle? You will spend almost as much, if not more. PLUS the ferry from Yenikapı to Mudanya goes very infrequently (it was only once a day last month, I don't know the timetable for December).

If you get on a bus from a company like Uludağ they even have service buses that will take you from Bursa bus station up the mountain to the ski resort, or into the centre of town if you want to stay there (as the ski resort hotels are more expensive).

Hmm.. yeah if you're not planning to stay in Istanbul then this would be a better way . Personally I don't want to go by bus anymore in Turkey (if I don't have to). But has to do with other things..
