Quoting mltm: Hehe maybe it's unpleasent but I can't help thinking about it. If all girls were wearing such garments, then big surprises would wait for the turkish man in the wedding night when the girl uncovers herself for the first time to her new husband thinking that turkish men appreciate physical beauty so much. |
oh, you still care for turkish men more than turkish women?
are you saying that ugly turkish women have no chance to marry?

Here we started again.
No I don't care more about men, just when you asked MrX if he would like women to walk around with those garments. I just imagined. But just imagine marrying a covered person, without seeing the face the man expects and dreams the woman he wants. I just imagined the scene. But I was not serious. The important thing here is ofcourse women and their liberty.

hehe you think that I'll hug you, you know those cryings do not work on me. People sometimes tell that I have no heart.
No, just a short thank you is enough for now!

Quoting mltm: They want the freedom of wearing it in universities as students as professors, in banks,in hospitals, in the parliament.
Just letting this happen, think just about it, you let the headscarf enter the universities, than where will you stop? |
I almost agree with what you are saying but, I will repeat it again, I think there should be a distinction about citizens' freedom and the people working in public places (ie parliment, teachers, judiciary etc).
Allowing headscarf in universities should be allowed because students are receiving the 'service from the state' and it is state's duty to give provide it (only for the university students I am talking about though, not high school or below).
However, when it comes to the services the state provides is different:
The state cant be associated with a religion. And allowing religious objects (like headscarf) in state departments will damage the impartiality of the state. (Imagine a head scarfed judge looking at the case between another headscarfed muslim woman and a woman wearing a mini skirt.)So it should not be allowed.

A wonderful concept! Shame that it does not work in the UK where we have to be SO politically correct and positively discriminate!!!
With regard to your example of a headscarfed judge, at least you can KNOW her views by what she is wearing. Even more scary is the thought that you will never be able to look at the MALE judges and know what their religious or political leanings are

Welcome back Femme....I hope all is well with you.
There is an old American saying,"make a ugly woman your wife, you'll be happy the rest of your life".....some men avoid attractive women for fear of competition.
On the other topic, I have heard of men who had not seen the face of their wife until they were alone in the bridal chamber.

The "bridal chamber" ? Isn't that something from hundreds of years ago
Handsom once mentioned a similar thing about Turkish men - they marry the plain ones first, then have affairs with the beautiful ones! Nice
