Quoting portokal: alameda, did you forgive him for making you such advances? |
did he apologize and make up to her for disrespecting her? if not, I don't see a reason to forgive.

he should have apologize.
if not, she should have ask for his apology in order to be able to forgive.

I disagree She should move on if the apology doesn't come from him. She should get help to deal with her pain, become strong again and fuck him.

Quoting catwoman: Quoting AEnigma III: Quoting Daydreamer: Perhaps it's a matter of social acceptance. Those usually older guys were most probably raised in a way that they think women, especially foreigners, like that kind of aggressive sexual appeal. Is it revolting? Sure, but apparently they think otherwise. |
What worries me is that they must get "results" from some women, or they would have given up long ago |
Or maybe they do this because they don't get results..? :-S |
I think Aenigma's right. Would we have so many translation requests here if those guys weren't lucky? It seems a few Iloveyous and persistent nagging are the key to succeed. Now...who's to blame? A culture promoting a strongly sexual male or our super-developed/civilised western culture promoting an independent (please, note sarcasm) female?

Yeah, I know. They promote a super independent... but MOST preferably a bit dumb, unchallenging stripper... From one type of patriarchy to another!

He looked shocked, he shut his legs and kept quiet the rest of the trip. No one said anything.
Everyone on the train looked at him, as if to photograph his face. My hope is next time he tries to do that to another, he will remember that incident and not do it.
That sort of thing makes me see red. I don't see me as myself, I see the multitudes of others that have been accosted in this way. I think of all the times he got away with it.
Maybe some of those on the train who were looking at this incident would have done the same thing in the "right" situation, maybe that will be a detriment to them too.

Hi elibrody, I've been to Mexico numerous times and have found an inordinate amount of harassment towards women there. I was in many parts of Mexico, including Mexico City, Acapulco and many tiny none touristic villages.
In fact I was warned to be very careful exactly where I went, so as to not be kidnapped.

I agree with you Elibrody,it all depends which part Mexico are we talking about. Mexico City is not too safe anymore, back in 2006 the population was 8,720,916,considered one of the biggest cities in the world. Terrible, very crowded city.Obviously you can find all type of people in bigger cities. I was born and rised in Mexico and in my town I never experienced something like that. Yes, we must admit that many men tend to tell you all kind of 'compliments' while you walk on the street, but I never saw or experienced someone going beyond that. But I think it happens everywhere.

Quoting geniuda: But I think it happens everywhere. |
Sorry geniuda, it's nothing personal, but I hate such apologetic, irresponsible statements as: "it happens everywhere". Yes, to a certain degree it may happen everywhere, but to WHAT degree it happens - does make a difference! Fear of being raped or kidnapped in Mexico city in the daylight is a little bit different then fear of walking alone at night on a deserted street! Even though you may say "it's the same underlying issue".
