Contraceptive myths have been around for thousands of years.
Ancient methods have varied from crocodile dung and honey before sex (did they eat it?
 
, to sea sponges and beeswax after.
Perhaps the most intoxicating was alcohol made from stewed beaver´s testicles. (never heard of this one I must say!!
)
However, it seems that a variety of unsafe and unproven methods might still exist in modern Britain.

Just be careful with British ladies guys.. 
In the early nineties I taught health science to kids of 12-14, including sex education. One of the weirdest ideas I heard was that Coca Cola was a contraceptive. Afterwards (...) a woman should rinse herself inside with the stuff to avoid getting pregnant.....
(I´m not sure if they thought it also works with Diet Coke..
)
