Hello. My name is Amber and I need help on how to pronounce this name: Alican.

Is it pronounced ´A-lee-see-can´? Or maybe ´Alli-can´?

Please and Thank You,

Amber {#emotions_dlg.pray}

This is not really the right place for this post but........

Ali is pronounced alli and the ´can´ part is ´jan´   so I´d say alli-jan (unless the i is undotted in which case it would be alluh jan)

(the ´c´ is as ´j´ in jam)

My try

 Well, Reyhan, it all depends on whether the native English speaker is American or English!

Here Sonunda is English, so I guess she, like me, says and more like the "a" in can.

 Thanks Marion-all my grammar books say that the ´a´ is pronounced as in eg ´apple´ ,´cat´ etc.

Nobody has ever told me differently when saying ´canım´ etc. this way.

Thank You. I will ´post a new thread´ for any questions you may have and so on. I really appreciate the help. I just did not want to meet the chap and not know how to say his name!

*haha* I will knock on his door and be like "Alican" and totally say it wrong, oh how embarrassing...

Lady in Red, thank you and yes he is my ´boyfriend´. I usually call it lovers. He is my lover.

I do not have a MSN. I wish I knew how much it costs and what it is. Is it like the ´chat´ in Facebook? I know he, my love, said he has one as do everyone else.

Let me clarify with a message I sent to a person (below):

This message seems just a little mean , but you really do not know how I live. . I am new to the internet I have never been on it this is my first year ´exlporing´.

I have a computer for school :

(This is my school logo)

 And my father has a computer. I am talking to you through my computer through school. This is one of the few sites that my school didn´t resrict. Reason said, I did not look up msn on my dads computer when I had the chance so I just thought it would be easy to get an answer here. How much does a msn cost? Can you please tell me? Thank you, Amber

Hi Amber,

MSN is free so no cost is required to register, download and use it. It is a chat portal via Microsoft Windows. Together with it, u automatically get a profile webpage (similar to what Facebook offers) where you can put a profile pic and upload photographs etc. However, I think your school might have blocked it, whch is why you can´t seem to open the website. When you register, it will ask you for your details such as your name, email address etc. And of course, you have to download the program to install it on your school´s computer.

I hope this helps

MSN is free, and you can chat, talk and see each other using a webcam.  At this moment in time, it is pretty much my whole life (I know, depressing isn´t it??)  {#emotions_dlg.shy}
