I don´t think we can say ´we can´t meet once in a while´ in English - it sounds odd.

The only way it would sound ok is if it was

´we can´t meet, EVEN once in a while´ - meaning ´we will never be able to meet´

or ´we CAN meet once in a while´ - meaning ´we can meet - but only infrequently´

tsk guys for the extra input still i dont get how the person could say that to me , i dont know him he is my mates best friend,so i suppose i have to still talk to him :S
