Cobra´s translation correct. But there is slang version of "götürmek" used like, "I am going to bar to pick a girl" Like you are having that person for no serious/romantic relationship. I don´t know if that is the case here..

According to tureng.com, ´götürmek´ can mean ´destroy´ - so how about ´don´t waste your time you can´t destroy me´ (in the sense of, ´stop trying to put me down because you won´t succeed´

It doesn´t fit that sentence. And I have never heard götürmek is also used for "destroy".

It would be helpful if we could trust dictionaries now and then...

site dictionary:

götürmek

1. /ı, dan, a/ to take (something) from (a place, someone) to (a place, someone).
2. /ı, dan, a/ to carry, convey, or transport (something) from (one place) to (another).
3. /ı, a/ to take (someone) to (a place).
4. /ı, a/ to accompany (someone) to (a place).
5. /ı/ to take away, remove, carry away, carry off.
6. /ı/ to take away, destroy, ruin.
7. /ı/ to cause the death of, kill off.

tureng.com:

22 General götürmek lead on >
23 General götürmek destroy >
24 General götürmek run >
25 General götürmek deliver >
26 General götürmek waft >
27 General götürmek take >

oh, and why doesn´t it fit the sentence?

oh again - I see it also means ´get laid´ wow this sentence has a multitude of meanings!
