Military service is not compulsory. One can, if so desired, avoid it.
Military service is an honorable duty and a birthright for all Turkish males.

I remember when military service was compulsory in Britain there were ways and means of avoiding it especially if you had plenty of "means"

Is it worth the trouble?
By the way, do you have "yellow papers" there too? I mean, the paper you get which says that you are insane and thus you can't make your military service?

The Code of Citizenship changed..according to the new article if someone refuse to compulsory military service he doesnt lose his citizenship..the goverment made it for EU..by the way It is not benefit of Turkey, of course according to my opinion..
