Hello everybody. I'm new here and also new studing turkish. Studing alone is not so good as some little conversation from time to time. I would like to find someone interested in this exchange, or others just studing turkish to share doubts and explanations, of course.

Thanks to the site, and to all of you. I hope to talk with you soon.

Great. "bende" ben + de = I + too = Yo + también in spanish. You will answer that way completly: Yo también estoy bien "bende iyiyim".

"Estoy muy bien" "Çok iyiyim".

I'm sorry, i can't recommend sites like this one for spanish. But for sure, if you type "learn spanish" or "aprender español" you will find a lot of webs. For the rest, xat, talk, doubts here I am! To say it wrong, to say it right, to say nothing at all, but something at least!

Iyi şanslar! Buena suerte!

Welcome everybody! We are now here two who speaks spanish and three who speaks turkish, isn't it?

How can I ask to all of you in turkish: "Are you living in Turkey?" in spanish: "Vivís en Turquía?"

Vivir = live Vivís = 2 person plural

en = in

Turquía = of course Turkey!

Yo vivo en Barcelona.

Yo = ben

vivo = 1 person plural

Send me private messages too, if you want. I'll be pleased to answer to all of you. Let's try some kind of written talk!

Thank you so much for the translation.

Are all Turkish men romantic? Most of the english men I know are not like that they do not like to express their feelings. It certainly makes me feel good to get the messages I must try to learn more about the language and the culture.

Once again I thank you.

Merhaba! İyi akşamlar! Hola! Buenas Tardes!

Thanks SuiGeneris for your reply. Then: (Ben) Barcelona'da yaşiyorum. // (Ben) Türkiye'de yaşimiyorum. // (Yo) vivo en Barcelona. // (Yo) no vivo en Turquía.

It could be useful to put those verbs and words we learn in simple sentences like this, and just practice asking and answering each other.

Nerede yaşiyorsun? // ¿Dónde vives? // Where do you live?

How can I ask that in Turkish:

Have you been in Turkey / Barcelona? // Has estado en Turquía / Barcelona?

Hola chicos. Estoy de inglatera pero he vivido en espana hace siete anos. Estudio türkçe y espanol juntos. Es muy complicado estudiar dos lenguas al mismo tiempo! ( Hello all. I am from England but l have lived in Spain for 7 years. I study turkish and spanish together. It is very complicated learning 2 languages at the same time!)

My spanish translation is probably incorrect!!

Having studied really hard yesterday with turkish I couldn´t even remember how to say hello in spanish!!

What a great site this is!!!  It´s a pity there is not a similar one for Spanish learners.

How are you managing to learn both languages at once? I want to go back to studying Spanish myself -  I used to take a few classes a while back, and I´m just trying to figure out how to do both. Do you study both every day? Do you alternate days? Do you get them mixed up?

 Your Spanish wasn´t that bad, just remember that you must say "Soy de Inglaterra", you use the verb "ser" to express where you are from, and you can´t use the pretérito perfecto + hace, you have to say "Viví en España hace 7 años", you need to use the pretérito indefinido when you use hace+time expressions.

Hi melek,

I have been learning Spanish for four years and I am still rubbish at it!! Before then I was learning turkish so when I came to learn spanish I forgot all the turkish I had learnt!!! Anyway, hubby and I are thinking of visting Turkey again on an extended holiday so I thought I would brush up on my turkish. Brush up!!!! I have to relearn everything and now I am getting confused with my spanish!!

I have been really cramming the turkish over the last 2 days and couldn´t remember how to say hello in spanish this morning. Very confusing!! How do kids learn 2 or 3 languages at school at the same time???? I suppose they cope because they are young...lol.

Hi Iceheart,

Thanks for the corrections. I haven´t really studied for a couple of years and could never get to grips with the past tense. I think that it´s´ a problem of being self taught. I should have known it was "soy"...I´ve used it often enough...lol.  I need to stop one or the other! I was amazed at how turkish much I had forgotten after not using it at all for 9 years. I have to start from the beginning again!!

I wonder if it would be a good idea to use one foreign language to learn another - for example use Turkish resources to learn Spanish. I found a couple of websites in Turkish that might be helpful with that:

http://www.forumispanyolca.com/

http://www.ispanyol.com/

That way we could kill two birds with one stone and practice both languages at the same time.

I know that´s feasible, I am using English to learn Turkish, even though Polish is my native language, but I´m just not sure how well one needs to speak Turkish to really benefit from the above idea.

Melek, you could be right. I have just had a quick look at them and it may possibly work as long as I can hold up the spanish side and don´t have to convert to english first...lol. My problem would be with the past tenses coz I never remember which one to use and their verb endings...that is down to me not putting the effort in at the end of the day!!! I´ll give it a go tho´.

Thanks for that. Smile
