Dear friends,
We here learners i mean, try to get better in language by translating both ways,E-T,and T-E,and that is helping so much ofcourse,
But looking at the matters as it is now,from my aspect,its become easy for me to translate most of the love,romantic words,but that is all,i don't mind translating ofcourse,but i'm talking about practice other subjects too,when i tried to read Gazete for example,i found it hard.
So i thought to open a thread which anyone who have a simple text or poem or something like that can share it with us,to examen new words,and different style,hoping we can improve ourselves and end up reading news papers.
Wish our Turkish friends can help us here too,bring us any materials you can,even to quote part of a kids story or something,
İ didn't find such materials here on the net,only news papers which is hard for beginners.
İ found this in my book,
İstanbul'u dinliyorum gözlerim kapalı;
Önce hafiften bir rüzgar esiyor;
Yavaş yavaş sallanıyor
Yapraklar,ağaçlarda;
Uzaklarda,çok uzaklarda,
Sucuların hiç dur durmayan çıngırakları;
İstanbul'u dinliyorum,gözlerim kapalı;
İstanbul'u dinliyorum gözlerim kapalı;
Bir kuş çırpınıyor eteklerinde;
Alnın sıcak mı değil mi,biliyorum;
Dudakların ıslak mı,değil mi,biliyorum;
Beyaz bir ay doğuyor fıstıkların arkasından
Kalbinin vuruşunda anlıyorum;
İstanbul dinliyorum.

I asked for a translation of my poem (though it is a love poem) and there will be plenty more to come as I am writing a poetry book and if I get it published it will be in different languages and not just English.
People have been very kind in helping me translate it into many different languages (from Russian to Hebrew) but I haven't yet got a translation for it in Turkish so please feel free to help me

I'm listening to İstanbul, my eyes are closed;
First, there is a light breeze blowing;
Slowly by slowly it is swaying
The earth, in the trees;
Far away, so far away,
The bells that the water-bearer couldnt stop;
I'm listening to İstanbul, my eyes are closed;
I'm listening to İstanbul, my eyes are closed;
A bird is fluttering in your skirts;
Is your forehead hot, or is it not? I don't know;
Are your lips wet, or are they not? I don't know;
Beyaz bir ay goğuyot fıstıkların arkasından
I understand in the beating of its heart
İstanbul, I'm listening.
What the hell is GOĞUYOT??!! :S
And is this just a really random poem or was it just my dodgy translation??
