"Nerede gittin"

That whole nerede/nereye/nereden thing is such a pain...

Seems so simple when you learn it (cos it is) then you start trying to learn/use a new tense or whatever, take your eye off the ball and ... you mess up.

Mind you, my own personal stupid speciality is confusing sıcak and soğuk when I talk - I know the difference, of couse I do. They just come out wrong.

Isn't this one of those cultural things though? Hard to find a translation for scrambled eggs if they're generally not cooked that way here (I live in Ankara).

Like the Turkish word "tost" actually means toasted sandwich, but toast is "kızarmış ekmek" (I hope!) which translates back into English as fried bread. Although it isn't actually fried. *sigh*

Just one of those "when in Rome" things. You can fight it (surely pointless) or give in. Anyway - when you look at the mindboggling irregularity of English, you can forgive Turkish anything...

What is the purpose of the suffix -ki? I can see that it is like -ken in the sense that it doesn't follow the vowel harmony rules.

However, I cannot make it clear to myself why it is used, for example:

"Bu sınıftaki en güzel kız benim"

Why not just

"Bu sınıfta en güzel kız benim"
