In the time I was in Türkiye last year - I only saw one shop that could possibly be big enough to be called a supermarket in the UK sense of the term......this was in Datça I think......

Having said that, there were lots of "corner shops" that called themselves a "supermarket" lol

I have seen these as past tense.......
vardı and oldu

Examples:
gece oldu - it was nightime.
kuşlar vardı - there were birds.

But can the same be applied to present and future tenses???

gece olecek - it will be night.
adınlık varacak - there will be light.

gece olacak
and yes, it is same for this example.
aydınlık olacak

they will be here= onlar burda olacak/burda olacaklar
there will be good things here= burda güzel şeyler olacak

If olmak can be used in both future tense forms - is the same true for the past tense?

Example:
Could I say kuşlar oldu instead of kuşlar vardı?

Last night I decided to buy the Lingvosoft Turkish/English Dictionary.......took me ages and ages to decide which one to buy but eventually ordered THIS ONE.

It is very very good
And has 400,000 words - no talking but the talking ones only talk in English anyway which is not helpful to me!

I am thining of getting the phrase book as well - has anyone tried it?
Is it any good?
