The dictionary listing for konuşmak only lists /ı/ as being 'to discuss'. But surely:
Hangi dili konuşuyorsunuz?
translates as:
Which language are you speaking?
not:
Which language are you discussing?

"Do you speak English?"

As you know we donâ€™t say: â€œDo you discuss English?â€

We are talking about Turkish language.
Or
We are discussing about Turkish language.
But we speak English when we do it.

So why dili konuşuyorsun and not dil konuşuyorsun???

The dictionary does not say that konuşmak takes /ı/ for "to speak"
